Camper van shite.

Don't know if this should be in the moderns but bought a camper a few months ago.

Its an Auto Sleepers Duetto based on a 2002 Transit (for and against some advice  greatly received from here).

Been away a few times and it's great for two of us and the dog.

Nice and comfy and suprisingly plenty of room.

Mechanically it's done 70 odd thousand. Couple we bought it off had it serviced every year irrespective of mileage. A bill of over £300 every year including the MOT.

New front discs and wheelbearings, rear brakes egr valve within the last 10,000 miles.

Goes like the clappers!! Suprised me!

Body wise very good for a mk6. I'm currently treating the underside with Bolt Hamber Dynax UB- power washing, removing any loose underseal and surface rust treating with hydrate 80 then blasting a few coats of ub on.

Very good nick underneath- will inject box sections with DynaxUC when underneath finished.

Had to take my car port down and make it a meter taller- bit of a faff.

Had an Autosleeper Cotswold a few years ago- was 7.2 m , this Duetto is 5.5m and can park it in a normal car park.

That looks tidy

Doesn't it!

Still getting used to a 2006 mk6 Rimor coachbuilt, even though we've had it 18 months. A little roof leak has been fixed, got some minor charging issue due to rather under specced contacts on the split charge/Zig unit, but it bowls along very nicely having the 6sp box.

I can't find a pollen filter on it though - it must be too old for one. And the fridge needs the sealing tape replacing - there's a smell of gas if it's on the windward side.

Oh, and the recharge of AC refrigerant seems to have gone amiss, or the condenser is very clogged.

There's always something to do...

Looks bloody clean. As a serial transit owner I recommend getting all over it with rust prevention before dealing with rot is all you have time to do! Front steps and anything underside from before the rear wheels back is a bugger to fix once rusts got a hold. I’d be lathering the underside in potions, cleaning on a regular and waxing the bejesus out of it bare minimum.

Id say the early wedge was peak transit though for many these are a better van and in some ways I’d agree. Good size too and drives like a modern car and fits in lost of the same places.
Any more interior pics? Always interested in camper van layout.

Currently using Dynax UB underneath and then Dynax sc on box sections

Here's a few interior photos.

Really?, do tell. From an outside layman’s perspective it looks tip top.

Bought a 2010 Cotswold in 2018 for £26,000. With Covid it would now cost more! Crazy.

Drove lovely- 3.0 Peugeot HDi.

Interior was lovely-same as photo below. Fridge and freezer huge and bathroom like a 5 star hotel.

Dealer had done a habitation check (I was naive!).

Had a slight leak from bathroom skylight- this was fixed.

Took it away a few times. Last time front Heki started leaking.

Decided to get it checked out by local motorhome repairers.

They found evidence if damp and damp repairs but more worryingly condemned the gas system. It had a built in gas tank on which the isolation valve could not be turned off. It had "passed" the habitation check with this.

Long story short- had dealer take it back and got just over £24000 back- so not too bad.

The more I looked back at it the happier I was that it had gone. The fridge was £1500 and known to be problematic. Webasto heating was useless.

The electrics were super complicated( my degree is Electronics) with a touch button system to operate things. Again this Sargent system was known to be problematic. The Duetto  I have now has rocker switches-superb!!

Anyway here's a photo of the Cotswold interior.

Full size toilet, too!

Hired one and now own one, both with the modern swivel toilet and I really hope I can find a way of downgrading to the old bench style - the new ones are designed by people who obviously don't wipe their arses
