Torsten2001 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I remembered today about Lambrettas I used to see in Dublin in my youth so I googled it.You used to see these things with their wide backs flying around delivering newspapers, obsolete even then: They were everywhere at the time and this is the only photo I can find!
Cavcraft Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Love that, never seen one before. Lambrettas seem to be the VW Camper/Escort Mk1 2dr of the scootering world these days and if any of those survive they're probably worth a small fortune now.
Cavcraft Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Check out the green 'heli front' one... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lambretta/owners.html

Pete-M Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Wow, the old red reg plates. Not seen any of those for years.
eddyramrod Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 We have red plates over here, they mark out all the rental cars! "Normal" cars have UK style plates, either black, or white front/yellow rear (nominally).
Albert Ross Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 My uncle had a Fiat 127. 2960NI I think....... We lived near Windsor in the late '70s, and it got LOTS of attention from the local constabulary when he visited from Ireland ..... especially when he parked it at the foot of the Castle wall when we went into London for the day from Riverside station. We came back to find it unlocked and ransacked, blocked in, and ticketed. He called the Police, who were there within 2 minutes! They almost hauled him away..... They thought NI was Northern Ireland. He was from Dublin. Apparently they had considered carrying out a controlled explosion on it............but it was parked under trees and they couldn't move it without damage to the Queen's property...... Nice car though. Light blue, booted, not a hatch. Went well on the way home. He received a written apology from the Plod.
eddyramrod Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I was looking in the background of those Dublin shots for evidence of Rafter's Dairy, New Street; it's part of my family history. Didn't find any...
