Bozwell Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 and loads more inside and outside pictures i expect most will know/guessed/worked out that i went with a friend of mine to buy the blue Celeste (well you know now ). few weeks work and most of the problems will be sorted. even all the spilled paint easily came off the interior panels which are now pretty spotless. friend who now owns the car is a panel beater and shapes metal for a living, so the dented wing wont be a problem. rubbish stereo will be coming out and an amp hidden under the dash so an MP3 player can be connected directly to the amp. running gear will be apart next week to sort the brakes, clean up the suspension and make sure all is good for reliable everyday use.
barrett Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I hope he didn't pay full whack for it, if it was even half as bad as Trigger said... Still, nice to know it's gone to someone who will sort it properly. be interested to see some pics of the work, when it starts
trigger Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I read that it had sold, If he can do the work himself then that's half the battle but I really hope that he never paid anywhere near to what i was offered if for, Especially seeing that it was only £595 in the first place. I'd be also interested in seeing photos once it's sorted.
Bozwell Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 a little bit of cash and a CRX was handed over. a set of Lotus wheels was thrown in with the Celeste. thing is even if the guy only paid 20pence for it it doesn't mean he should give it away. sorry to see the trauma you went through though, hope you are both a lot better. my mate was happy with the deal. problem is there are not enough to compare prices with and as the work will mostly cost time, apart from respraying a few bits, it'll be a funky retro car to smoke around in. sorry about the crappy phone pic but you saw how bad the panels were. washing powder, water and a scrubbing brush has cleaned the interior very well
trigger Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 thing is even if the guy only paid 20pence for it it doesn't mean he should give it away.I was happy to give £1250 for it which we agreed, I think it was well worth that if it really was as good as he said it was. Anyway I'm only repeating what I've already said, Glad your mate likes it, I'm sure it he'll make it a lot better in time.
Bozwell Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 cheers. the rear windows (under the louvrers) were bonded in with the wrong stuff. somone had used windscreen sealer so it stayed soft and the windows pushed out easily . still at least the metal work around these windows is really good, only small surface scabs that were visible anyway, so that'll be easily sorted. jenolite is a great rust treater so this stuff will keep the rust at bay for a while anyway must stop clogging drive-by's thread. more pics of the silver Celeste please
