Look out! The oil shieks have arrived.

Awesomely fugly.

That is all, because it started raining. And I was bored.

Magnificent!! Some lovely stuff there. especially love the cool BMW, and the better-than-new Capri- how DO they do that? And the Rapier, obviously!! Also loving the very ..er..... YELLOW custom Capri- very 1970s, as you say! I'm very struck though by the general high-quality of the workmanship of the interior, yet the binacle around the steering column looks like it was knocked-up on Blue Peter!

Great photos Pog. We opted not to come as the weather was looking dodgy. Just as well these aren't posted on R-R as Akku would do something nasty on sight of that Capri  Did I spy Larry's missus bug in the background of one? Racy A40 is an Ace regular.

Posted

Yeah, Larry & Kelly were in attendance. The Capri is spectacular, elongated 14 inches, almost every panel is a grp modified one, huge amount of work in it. Weather wasn't great tbh, about 1 hour of sun interspersed with showers :(

YEAH YEAH :wink: The Rotary Club orange tabbard wearers had you removed for being found semi naked round the back of the Lagonda screaming BILL TOWNS YOU DIRTY SLUT.... the arab owners is duragliting the tail pipes no doubt  That Capri is older than me, (yellow stretched wings one) It has been around for ever - still looks good though 8)

What a great set of pics - little Lotus is my absolute favourite.

[W.Towns esq beyond the grave] POG you filthy scroat! You have treat a Lagonda like a high class call girl, not a streatham slapper

That Blue 16 needs to come home to me! Reg is PEB 566J, my daily drive Land Rover is PEB 861J. What a pair they would make for a photo!Wonder if it's the original plate?

Gah! Looked like a good show. Alas I didn't make it due to EPIC FAIL.

Oh noes! What happened there then?? I was looking forward to seeing the R16 / Caravan combo...:cry:

damn why ratdat, did the caravan break down :o

Not sure until I strip it apart but it looks like it sprung a major gearbox oil leak which resulted in a very loud clanking from the diff. Might be one of the diff bearings has gone. Either way it's a gearbox out job. I only bought the caravan on Friday evening. It hadn't be used since 1987 so we had to put in some mega hours into getting it repaired and cleaned in time to leave Sunday morning.

How inconvenient. :( Is the 'gearbox out' a big job on those or not? What with the unusual layout...

Now this belongs to a chap i know called Geoff Philips, He's a local mechanic that i used to deal with and the father in law uses.

Here's another shot of with him in it

Posted Image

He built it himself back in the 70's, It's all fiberglass and space frame i believe with a Mustang lump in it, Got a feeling it's all homemade and none of it is from a Capri, Hence 'Capri or not Capri' name.

He's took it all round the world taking it to shows and it was in an Magazine advert back in the 70's as well.

And the best bit is that very day works van is a Mk 1 Cortina Estate that he's had forever, His wife has a Mk1 Cortina saloon with a Automatic Sierra lump as she can drive manuals and they family car is a mint G reg Rover 827 that he's had since new. Legend!

Superb! Ratdat is that a Sprite Musketter or a Major? Looks good!

Posted

Shame about the breakdown Ratdat. Combo must have looked ace on the road.

Posted

Are these 8's or 10's??

Posted Image

Thems R8s them are. Excellent pictures, would have liked to have gone but having far too much else to do stopped that :(

Sorry to see the R16 Ratdat, bet that combination of car + caravan looks ace on the road.
