Somewhere in my collection of brochure-shite, is an original Argyll brochure. The blue one in the brochure looked somewhat different to that. Much better finished for a start.

That one was shown at the Scottish Motor Show in the mid 80's, and had (I believe) a turbo PRV V6; it was bought by a dentist near where I lived at the time. He didn't have it for long, and chopped it in for an AC 3000ME.

This red one's fallen out of the ugly tree, and hit every branch on the way down...

EDIT: Just read the AROnline article, and without having seen my brochure for a while (it's buried in a cupboard here somewhere), the brochure example might have been the silver one Bob Henderson's standing next to. The dentist's one might well have been blue, 'cos he stuck Ecurie Ecosse stickers on his cars.

It struck me at the time, as a kid, as a stunning car; and I'd still have one! Quite fancy the Buick (GNX?) Indy engined one.

To be fair, I would guess it's probably at least a half decent car technically, given the people behind it.

No doubt if Pininfarina had styled it I wouldn't have labelled it as Autoshite. Just look at the thing, though..........

The one on AROnline may look slightly better, but if it hasn't fallen out of the ugly tree it's at least tumbled down the ugly stairs. The kit car styling just lets this thing down. Badly. As did the price.

I'm not going to disagree; but I will say this. Somehow the thing had real presence. In a locality where there were a fair few Porsches and Ferraris, not to mention immaculate cheque-book engineered Cobra reps; the Argyll had a bit more.

I will also say, in my defence, that my impressions of the Argyll were formed by an adolescent brain, 'nuff said?

I've always liked these actually, I dont think they look too bad really.

Lights are from a Datsun 120a F11 coupe, btw!

It looks OK, but it has that amateurish, designed in a garden shed look that most kit cars get.
