Advice - Mk3 Golf Rear Wheel Bearing

... is changed how?

I'm guessing remove caliper/carrier/disc (as it has discs, not drums) and it might just fall out. I've found a "kit" which has a big and a little bearing in it, a dust cap, castellated nut etc. What grease should I use? Any particular tips/methods?

Also, front brake calipers - is there a wind-back tool for these, or just a D-clamp on the old pad and squeeze it in?

Chairs.

Yeah, pretty much. caliper off, disk off, hub nut off, pull ;) edit- usually there is a sachet of grease in the bearing kit...

front calipers don't need a windback tool, that's just for nasty handbrake-ratchet equipped back ones.

Cool, thanks.... the weather was rubbish yesterday so I ended up not doing it, shall get the goodies tomorrow. Glad to know even a simpleton like me stands a fighting chance!

It sounds very similar to the Audi B2 coupe rear wheel bearing, one of the easiest jobs I've ever done on a car, but it did have drums at the back.
