Turbowomble: No. Three times as many countries as poo stops!

Fair play mate, I’m used to the Basingstoke to Ireland trek but used to stop over night at my parents near Paisley when they were alive, and head down to Stranaer , or I’d go Holyhead to Dunlaoghaire when they were already over there.

And there we are - a round trip of 740-odd miles and 17 hours later, that’s the old maid back home:

It's the sort of trip the car was made for I imagine! Just back when it only cost £45 to brim the tank with pez 😂

Been puttering about in the Laguna for the last couple days now and it’s been a real treat, particularly with the sunroof open and  windows down.

Currently at the Polish hand car wash getting a spritz, as I’d annihilated a goodly proportion of Britain’s already-dwindling insect population on Saturday. Got this shot of it next to the daily - beyond both being 4-door hatchbacks, they’re like chalk and cheese:

Sorry I missed this collection thread over the weekend - but glad to see you got home without any hiccups!

Lovely, lovely car - was very tempted myself, as it's a lookalike for one owned by my father from new (UBZ4994), albeit with the 2.0 engine - but I think I've scratched that itch now.

Health to enjoy, and hope to see it around!

Ah. That’ll need sorting…

I was going to book it into my trusted mechanics in a couple weeks’ time ahead of its MOT and the FOTU voyage, but looks like I might need to bring that up given how volatile the Irish summer climate is.

Checked the sunroof drains? In my lag2 they exited behind the front arch liners by the B pillar, and were buried under several inches of good compost. I got some 2 core thin flex and ridden both drains through as well, the flex was soft enough to not push anything apart.

Back once again (sans renegade master) mainland bound:

Realised that I never actually followed up on my voyage to the mainland - whoops.

Anyway, here’s the reason we were on the boat - FOTU 2025. It was my first time there and I had a great day wandering around all the old toss and fawning/gushing over it. Had a few ones nosy round the Laguna too, which was a pleasant surprise as I thought it might be too Unexceptional even for FOTU.

Although I did have to feel for this poor chap:

Anyway, the reason I’ve finally remembered to update this thread, is that I’ve reached my final milestone with this car - getting it a fresh ticket:

And not a single advisory either!

…because this was its retest. It failed the first time, on some rust on the driver’s side rear sill and (and I’d be arguing this with the tester yet) my yellow headlight bulbs. Either way, all academic now, as there’s 12 months ticket on it.

You’ll also note I’ve said “final milestone” - I’ve had this car a couple months now, and have enjoyed the summer commutes with the sunroof open and also getting down to FOTU in it, but to be honest I’m not sure what else to do with it. I like it, but I don’t love it, and I feel there’s a magnificent amount of life left in it for someone who either needs a roomy, comfortable car for work/family needs, or just wants to tickle a French fancy for a bit like I have.

With that in mind, it’s over to the classifieds…
