Half a Reliant Robin

Spotted this elsewhere and had to share. The joke was the owner had gone through a divorce and the wife wanted half. Anyway....

It's intriguing to see the design and just how well the designers managed to squeeze everything in with only mm to spare from pretty much every angle.

One of Reliants motor show cars, they made quite a few over the years for different models, think this is the only survivor,in a museum in Holland.

It brings back memories of the Mini cutaway which I was always fascinated by whenever we visited the Science Museum as kids. 3698924126_8625dda8e3_b.thumb.jpg.956d5466f26c6d82f6d2bdc99d52e6ff.jpg

I’m not all that familiar with Reliant’s tbh other than seeing them around years ago, but that does show really well just what an issue it was getting an engine in the car with the front wheel being in the way right in the middle.
At first glance you think the bonnet/front end is pretty big so you’d have no trouble but actually that front wheel does eat up a huge part of that space!

What they’re like to work on though?? That engine looks pretty awkward to access…

Later ones better as they have access panels in the cab,as do the regal, you can,if it's not stuck on the studs just do a headgasket in situ, anything more it's easier to drop from underneath.
