autofive Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 finally, after about 2 weeks on scaryoldcortinas 2-post lift, got the se5 back on wheels and running today. I took these pics to get a better view of the 'stance' ( i hate that word, its so scene) still got a few problems to iron out before the MOT, but had a quick drive this afternoon, and it feels good, drives well, and even stops i must remember to shut that bonnet
Guest Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Have to admit I prefer those earlier models - pre allegro door handles anyway. Looking good
FredTransit Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I like it except for the weird tow bar plate spoiling the arse end view.....
autofive Posted May 25, 2010 Author Posted May 25, 2010 I like it except for the weird tow bar plate spoiling the arse end view.....yeah i knowbut its bolted into the rear chassis, its 1/2 inch plate and the bolts are completely solid, tried to get an angle grinder in under the rear bumper this morning to grind the heads off, no diceit will be removed, i just want to get it MOT'ed as soon as, then i will remove the bumper and take it off
dollywobbler Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Don't forget that the towbar is MoTable now, though it sounds like it's not going anywhere so should be ok!It's a really nice looking car. I love the colour and the slight grubbiness of it. I reckon these early ones are finally going to start going up in value too.
autofive Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 I like it except for the weird tow bar plate spoiling the arse end view.....just for you Fred i have removed the armour before after and added the new number plate, and straightened the front bumpers then i attempted to de-rust the rear bumper before after
RedSparrow Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Looking good - I love the styling of these things.
FredTransit Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 That's better, the shape just didn't suit the tow bar, specially not that tow bar.....
Minimad5 Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 My old man loves these things Thanks for the small update of removing the Tow bar, it's good to see how others & there "shite" progress. Like it - Keep it the way it is
autofive Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 Yep. those wheels are called "princess anne alloys' i think they look naff, but some scimitar owners get orgasmic at the sight of a set the copper in this film clip describes scimitar drivers aptly
Captain Mainwaring Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 These look so fucking butch and, with the dual fartpipes, very aggressive. That styling, if you ask me, is screaming for V8-ness.
