Rust!.I got to drive one many years ago and remember not being that impressed with it, I was expecting more but it wasn't really there, Not as quick as i expected and a bit heavy and clumbersome from memory. And as i say, they tend to be very rusty now as well!

These are really nice handlers, so look out for DIY lowering kits and carlos fandango wheels! Oh and rust of course, they can rust like a mutha. Lovely cars though, i would love one!!!

Car Mechanics had one of these as a project car a while back, heater matrix was gone if I remember, looked a hell of a job. I agree though, they handle well.I'd have one!

Never buy a car designed after 1958 that has two tone paint.OK. I tried. Didn't work did it.

These are brilliant cars. Like others have said, one of the best handling FWD cars I've ever driven. Performance is more than adequate too if you get a decent manual one. Not a lot of room in the back though, and the boot is rather shallow IIRC.

Most buyers guides I've seen say avoud autos like the plaque but I can't recall why....

Sound advice there, can't argue with that.

Talk you out of what? These are very under rated machines, not only that but they're cheap, good to drive, reasonable on fuel and bits can be found from various Toyotas of the same age.

A mate of mine picked this up for £100 last year, it needed very little work to get it through an MOT and a few cosmetics. He then took it to Naples and back without incident.
