Is there a way similar to DVLA here in UK where I can plug in the reg number and make of a french car and get its details?

Not that I'm aware of. If memory serves, car registrations in France fall under the remit of regional administrations rather than central government, so I wouldn't have thought there would be a centralised location for vehicle info like there is over here.

sadly not spa, the carte gris is your receipt of ownership etc
