LPG Conversion

LPG rocketh mightily.

I'm seriously toying with fitting the 4.2 with a good multipoint setup. Hide a couple of torpedo tanks in the boot.

From my experience, LPG tends to knock bottom end torque a bit but can be setup to give pretty good top end poke. Could be the cheap way to end up with the 4.2 being enjoyed a bit more.

aye blow back is a pain in the arse! I only used to run the Probe on LPG when out of town as the blowback tended to happen in town which killed not only my air box but also the MAF sensor, and the car then ran like a pile of pish. I think I spent more on airboxes than I would have on just putting petrol in!

It blew the airbox in the calibra as well, but that car didnt seem to care and carried on running as normal

Boing for this topic - There's a kit on RetroRides but with no instructions.

How easy would it be to fit do we think?

Sure the collective mind of AS could point you in the right direction. Good price (tank is almost worth asking price alone) and certainly an honest seller. LPG conversion to a carb engine is not difficult...

It's worth factoring in the resale value of the car when figuring out the value of the conversion. You're likely to get some of your money back when you sell, especially if it's a desirable model and still reasonably low mileage.

You're right, I'll go for it.

As they say on the internet, ROFL

Desirable? Hmmm, compared to what?

Low mileage? As it's unknown, it might be low

ROFL indeed! I was thinking more generally, e.g. your typical LPG'd motor like a Jeep Cherokee or Jag XJ. But still, something to think about, no?
