West London assistance Sunday 12th evening

Bit of an emergency... am at the side of the road with a colleague from work, who has a 10-plate 3-series diesel that is pissing diesel out.  We believe it's the fuel filter halfway down the car, but access is terrible.  Likely just a hose popped off.

He's been recovered off the motorway, and now his breakdown cover have said "we're done, nothing more from us" which is absolutely awful.

I'm with him and can tow it a distance.   Is anyone around this evening who might be able to assist?  It's a long shot, but worth asking..

I've had one of those burst after I've changed it before.

It's on the passenger side rear above those shit plastic trims.  The one I did spat the large plastic bung out - it is held in with a big u shaped clip and the seal sits under it all.

I'm nowhere near enough to assist practically I'm afraid.

Sorry, too much to drink, to drive or help.

This is exactly what had happened.

In the end we just about managed to get the car high enough to get the shield off to then find the clip off and the end of the fuel filter detached.

Shoved all back together and it's running again.  What an absurd location for a fuel filter!

"Chod"  seems very strange.  As a 10-plate car it feels like a brand-new car, and yet it's 13 years old, and actually 1 year older than my first car was that I paid £200 for and was a rusty heap.

Just hoping it all holds together...
