danthecapriman Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Love the Brockway trucks. Funnily enough I was watching a video on YouTube the other day of a Brockway with a Detroit 12v engine in it. What a fantastic sound!
Datsuncog Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 If you've ever seen the Sam Peckinpah film Convoy, you'll have seen the 1972 Brockway 361 driven by the character Widow Woman. Unlike the rest of the trucks used in the film which carried fake loads, this one was stacked with a full bed of sawn timber - causing it to overturn on a sharp left-hand turn during second unit filming, while trying to keep pace with the unladen trucks... Nasty. And could have been a lot more serious. The script was hastily rewritten to incorporate the genuine accident, and used in promotional materials for the film. CARNAGE YO The truck itself was sold after filming, rebuilt and continued working for a living in the New Mexico area until a second collision finished it off in the early 1980s. Never a common sight, I'm told, and pretty rare now. mk2_craig, danthecapriman and tooSavvy 3
Richard_FM Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Brockway was another town in The Simpsons that invested in a monorail, along with Ogdenville & North Haverbrook. tooSavvy 1
