Cheap A Frames on the 'bay. Yay or nay?

Just been randomly surfing and found this...

Seems like a bargain, but has anyone got experience of them?

Is it good, or a "buy cheap, buy twice" scenario?

I know we've got a few brave 'framers on here, so what do you think?

YES, Theyre great! Get one that comes apart for easy storage though.

I can't really comment on the quality of the cheap ones but it's worth looking at used ones too. I bought mine s/h off the bay. I paid about the same as I would have done for a cheap new one but got a proper Solomatic job and came complete with the lightboard and mounting straps etc.

Mines a solomatic too, cost £100 s/h off the bay. That cheap one looks perfectly OK to me, the only thing that loks a bit shit on it is the tow hitch, never been a big fan of those pressed steel ones, although theyre probably entirely adequate TBH. They just look like theyve come off a halfords tin foil trailer.

Hhhmm-tis cheap.Looks OK -but I'd like to see it first. However- its prob worth a punt.Try and get an experienced user to teach you first time. Get it wrong & you'll never want to tow again (which is why there are plenty of lightly used seconds around...)

I had one of the GMV ones, it was a really good bit of kit.

You could see that it wasn't going to live as long a genuine solomatic, but for occassional use and stored indoors when not req'd I could not have asked for more, I think I actually had the cheaper of the 2 they sell, GR8 4 RESCUIN GROT.

I wouldnt buy a cheep one ever again, they flex and twist to much,at the top off our drive is a sharp corner which i have framed many a car round without a problem useing a freinds solomatic, i then decided to get my own frame so i opted for a cheep ebay one big misstake  the first time i towed a car around the corner i took the side out off it on the wall  i now have a genuine solomatic and its by far the best one ive used. there is no substitute for good quality
