Does anyone collect/keep old keys and/or keyrings?

I have a bad habit of losing the spare key of my car, only to randomly discover it again long after I've sold it! 🤦‍♀️

Went through my collection earlier and took this pic. Anyone else do this? Can you remember what cars they were from?

I've got keys from:

MK3 Golf 

Citroen AX 

Mazda 323 x 2

Daihatsu Cuoure

Perodua Nippa

Renault Clio

Toyota Carina II

Nissan Almera

And obviously the Seicento and the Fiesta.

My Magnolia tree has hanging from it within the branches the keys to:

 

Vauxhall Astra G

Citroen BX

Yamaha Burgman

A Chubb prison door lock from Lancaster Castle

The children find these sorts of things bizarre

I have loads kicking about. Mostly spares from cars long ago scrapped though like yourself @Fennec Im murder losing spares or just keys in general. We've been doing a lot of research for our youngest child who is clearly neuro divergent which is a trait it seems has been inherited from me. The misplacing of things is apparently part of it and according to the mrs explains why me and youngest are a pair of cunts.

Tuesday morning when i need to be at work ill be more likely to find the keys for an austin metro scrapped in'97 than the keys for the current builders wagon.

I kept a key from every car I scrapped, from my first car onwards, ended up with a huge bunch of them.

Ended up giving them to the boy to pretend with so that worked well.

I like to get a good period correct key ring for any of my more interesting cars.
