Nissan 100NX

I think they are a bit grot-prone, but the mechanicals are good - Nissan Sunny based with chain driven twin cam 1.6s. They won't be too exciting but I guess with that T-bar GR8 4 SUMMER.

Based on the Sunny aren't they? I know Autocar & Motor referred to it as a "sheep in wolfs clothing" when they tested it.Very popular in Harrow on the Hill amongst the locals when I was working there earlier in the decade as well

I bought one for £100 year before last . Did a couple of bits of welding on it, new disc and pads and it flew through an MOT. My daughter used it for 8 months commuting 30 miles a day, no problems with it at all except for a new battery needed. The injections engines are better apparantly, and they can rust well, check the rear suspension turrets carefully, and the sills underneath the wheel arch trims. With the roof out it was a fantastic little car, good on fuel, cheap to run and quite comfy as well. The back seats are only suitable for small children though, and the bags for the lift out panels can sell for more than you can buy a complete car for! I was gutted when she flogged it on without telling me when she got a company car.

I quite like these, they can only get more rare. Probably best to get a decent one cheaply while you can. They benefit from nicer alloys I reckon.

I know this isn't the done thing on Autoshite, but I've never liked these at all. At least the ZX coupe had some sharp-edged style to it. The 100NX looks like one of those odd folk whose eyes are too close together.

They're f*cking ugly as sin, but I've found them growing on me. That front end really is unforgivable, the design team (and the team who approved it) must've been on industrial strength acid. I can't believe a single person in Nissan came forward and said something!

Technically, these are a Sunny coupe as they are based on the B13 chassis which is part of that family (B10, B110, B210, B310, B11, B13 then B13). Shame we only got them with the GA16 engines. Elsewhere they came with SR20DE's which would have likely given them a lot more go. There were two 2.0L ones imported here for type approval and one of them is still about somewhere (reg J399MKP) as it shows up as taxed on the DVLA's website.Personally, I'd rather have a B12 coupe as they are a bit better looking (albeit angular), plus the CA18DE twin cam provides the ZX coupe with half decent performance.

I had one on the pitch, and ran it for a week or so, can`t find a picture of it anywhere though.I found it a fun car, handling was certainly a good bit sharper than a standard Sunny, went well enough, always nice to come back to in a car park, attracted a fair bit of attention on the pitch, everyone seemed to like the look of it, needed some Sunny-like welding on the rear sills for MOT (nothing drastic, just a couple of holes in the outer sills) all in all my impressions were good. Can`t understand anyone having a problem with the front end, it`s just a slightly unusual sporty front end, I like it, nice alternative to pop-up lights.

I think 100NX's would have benefitted from a pop-up headlight front end or something similar to a 300ZX (Z32). In fact they have quite similar styling to a Z32.

I like the front end styling! A former incarnation of Ms_Bolx had one of these, it was fun thing to blezz round in, specially on a sunny day in the peak district, although it did tend to blow my hair in my eyes. NOT.

I've had two, both red first was carb fed and second injected. They drive ok, slightly sportier than a Sunny, good on fuel (35mpg) but as mentioned sills can rot under the side skirts. Both mine had the roof bags and the panels to cover the glass.Makes the cabin dark with the panels in place but they stopped the sun beating down on my baldy head when it was too cold to lift the roof out.
