Driving around my city today (cameraless and passengers aboard ) I saw 4 interesting standouts1992 ? mazda cosmo, 1994 toyota camry coupe, early transit camper (at night but seemed to be complete with rusty bits) then pulled up at the lights behind a DB9 volante. All in use and all very rare at this end of the world, I need to buy a new camera ! quickly !

Edit Jan 2017......Just found this thread, so stuck it back up so you can drool over it, or dislike it if you can find the button  :-D

many thanks for that scrappylad .it was in good nick when sold .only a couple of bubbles in one rear door, and a leak in the power steering reservoir. ive got the invoice for it somewhere (why have I kept it for 33 years ?) and will post it just because I can.

imagine that.if thiswas car of the year--what wasnt

what were they thinking of in the headlight department ?

Posted

Very odd. Appears to be a Vitesse bonnet with the outer lights blanked off. Why?Dig the rear wheel camber - and it's not even moving!

Posted

Did we get Heralds with four doors in the UK? As far as I know they had enough trouble keeping two shut on corners.

Posted

No, we didn't. I think they were only produced overseas. Some years ago there was an exhibition of the design drawings for this & many subsequent Triumphs from the same pen (Michelotti?) at the V&A. Fascinating.

The Herald seems to be one of the few cars that isn't profiled on the excellent Austin-Rover website. They used to scare me when I was little, they looked very angry to me, especially the Vitesse models.

had my sister here today .she divides her time between UK and NZ and is not a shite fanatic.has a redeeming feature though ! she doesnt like wasting money on buying new cars. late last year she gave away her volvo 340 in UK and was given a rover , asked her what model it was---answer DONT ASK ME !! end of that...owns a 1989 corolla in NZ which sits for 6 months at a time (garaged) and never misses a beat.ROTTEN EGG SMELL IN ROTORUA . I LIVE HERE SO THE AIR SMELLS SWEET TO ME.

Ahoy hoy! What a belter! Rare too, most of them in the Antipodes got the flat front I think, and you could get a 4-dr RS2000 as well. Q-car or what?
