barrett Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Just watched this great docu on the iplayer. Fair bit of car-content but it's worth watching even without that. Ignore the shonky intro, it's really bloody good. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00rkm3y/Requiem_for_Detroit/
Mr_Bo11ox Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 i watched this last night, absolutely great. if anyone knows this 'Packard' tune that gets a mention, give us the details would you?
mouseflakes Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Top film - had many themes that are often echoed on here. Well worth a watch.
retrogeezer Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Recorded it so look forward to watching later.
retrogeezer Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Just watched this and thought it was fantastic, the car stuff was good, the urbex even better. Incredible the amount of buildings just abandoned and falling to pieces.
mk1_4dr Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 I hovered over this with the mouse last night. Ive got the house to myself tonight so I'll probably give it a watch.Mr_BOL -- Is it some sort of Packard theme song? I can ask my otherhalfs Dad, he's a huge Packard collector.
retrogeezer Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 VWP - isn't there some way of putting in a UK proxy server address or something to view iplayer?*edit*Quote:Originally Posted by buildingsofdetroit How to watch it outside of the UK. Haven't tried this yet to see if it works, however:http://hurwi.net/blog/?p=28 I've never tried that before. All you really have to do a search on Proxy list, or proxy servers. Find one that is located in the UK then in Firefox go to options-network tab-settings click on the "manual proxy configuration" radio button then fill in the HTTP Proxy and the Port Number. Then, it's a matter of trial and error to find one that will work. It can be frustrating at times finding one, and they are usually good for only a few days.
trigger Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 I was listening to the The Radcliffe & Maconie Show on Radio 2 the other night where they was talking about this show with Noddy Hodder and they was raving on about how good it was, so i must watch this when i get a moment.
reallyloud Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 I stumbled across this earlier, as mentioned by trigger it featured on Radcliff & MacConie - good enough endorsement as I've ever heard. Another program which is directly related, less car orientated but worth watching is 'Motor City's Burning: Detroit from Motown to the Stooges' on the iplayer. Top notch quality stuff.
Chris_W_Q4 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Really enjoyed that. Here's another really good BBC documentary about the whole DeLorean story, this is the link to Pt1. Makes me want to get one!
