Spotted on walk to beach

Short walk from site and came across these treasures. At the garage with the C5 in the window was a Golf with only 10k miles for 8000 pounds, but it wasn't there later and I've forgotten how old it was as well, so a bit irrelevant. Note Ambassador is John Shuttleworth spec! IMG_20220826_200702.thumb.jpg.9247b778cf853a31462ce0e769ad6203.jpgIMG_20220826_200454.thumb.jpg.d0e191366c5bae95a881809e5eb78117.jpg

Heacham, in West Norfolk. It's been there for many years. Next to the Fire Station. The "scrapyard" is a few doors down.

That’s it! I live 30 mins away. Will be there this Sunday in the camper!

Open day at Fire Station, garage  next door had moved his used cars to make way for some lovely stiff. Mostly Fords, three Mk 3 Capris, including an E reg green 280(Brooklands?)and three Mk 2 Consul/Zephyr/Zodiacs plus a lovely Mk4 XR3i.Further down the road heard a most splendidly unholy noise and a fellow was firing up his Formula One Stockcar. A visit to Hunstanton wouldn't be complete without a picture of a Wash Monster. On top of the cliffs saw this lovely  thing. Apparently its a 2003 Optare something or other, made into a camper. Owner says he VW GP Beach Buggy behind it. Finally an off road ice cream van. IMG_20220827_152347.thumb.jpg.59bfc788359fc3407bf93712af54f3be.jpgIMG_20220827_125110.thumb.jpg.df3a7f6000fcc64f80cbda5e8ea0ce3b.jpgIMG_20220827_114956.thumb.jpg.11741b452c57056dac6582d892c9a3ed.jpg

what is this?

It's a 2003 Optare Alero. About 300 were made as an alternative to van based buses. Not a great success and not many survive. Good for camper conversions apparently. 2.8 Iveco engine.

We’ll be parked along the front tomorrow where that Optare is. Currently just outside Kings Lynn on a site.

That garage in Heacham has some sort of connection with Capris, a friend lives on Cheney Hill in Heacham and that is his local garage he uses for work to his car, he’s definitely mentioned something about Capris there before.

Was chatting to the stock car driver who has sponsorship from the garage. Says the owner has a 2.8i, restored at great expense. Presumably the green one in the photos. We walked all the way down to the beach, then along the prom to Hunstanton. Then along the road to the beach in Old Hunstanton where we had lunch in the cafe. Finally back along the road to thee bus station where we caught the bus back to Heacham. Lovely day for it though. Really enjoy this part of the world for a few days. Sheringham yesterday for a crab sandwich  and a drive back along the coast road, stopping at Wiveton Hall for a coffee.

I saw the green 2.8i this morning parked up in Hunstanton. Nice car!

Also spotted a red one but only managed a rubbish pic. Old Plaxton (?) coach too.

Oh and also an old shit green Transit…

The stock car driver is 541 Willie Skoyles Jnr, his father Willie Snr is an ex-banger racing World champion (2001 Unlimited World Final at Wimbledon) so it wouldn't surprise me if they have connections to the classic Ford fraternity too.
