Throttle cable help

Help please!

My Honda melody throttle cable needed a new splitter (throttle cable goes to a splitter where it then goes to two cables - one to the oil pump, one to the carb)

The original centre where the cables hook into had gone brittle and snapped so I’ve got a replacement here to fit.

This is the replacement:

The issue I have is that the original one was the opposite way round (so the removable cap was the end where the two cables go in, the fixed end was the single cable)

Therefore, the two cables don’t have enough free cable to fit through the tube and out the end to hook onto the centre piece.

I’ve taken the cables off the carb and oil pump so I’m at their maximum length, they just don’t stick out the end enough.

Frustratingly the new centre piece also is a bit bigger than the original so I can’t just use that in the original splitter tube either.

Am I buggered or is there another way?

This is the original so you can see the open end is the end with two cables so it’s easy to feed the single cable in and it’s long enough to come out the end.

Cheers

Here’s a pic from online of what I need to be able to do but there’s not enough free cable to poke that far out:

Can you use just the new metal bit in the old housing?

Otherwise how much free play can you get by detaching the other end of the 2 cables?

Nuclear option: bin it all, fit 1 cable from throttle to carb and pre-mix your oil.

New metal bit is slightly bigger so won’t fit, first thing I tried!

Other two ends are detached and up tight against the black outer sleeve so I can’t get any more through.

Pain in the arse, I didn’t even notice when ordering it but all of them seem to be this way round. Tempted to cut the other end off with a dremel and glue it back on! Nothing to lose if no-one else has any suggestions!

Can you remove a bit of the outer cable from the two cables. That will make the inner cable free length increase. Would that help?

That was plan B but I actually managed to bastardise it but hacksawing the twin end off the new one and using the removable one from the old splitter which is rubber so actually fits quite nice.

If I find one in stock somewhere at a reasonable price I’ll replace the whole thing but for now it works!
