he did say 1970s, and if I had ten grand spare, i would spend it on my accident damaged 1972 Mk1. The Mk2 is good for 80, how long are we talking here? Four hours at a stretch? 24? I doubt there are many places in the EU you could keep up 80, unless it was in the middle of the night. I have regularly taken my Mk2 LWB pinto 5 speed off the clock on the motorway, dunno if I would want to do that in a Mk1 V4. Under the skin the Mk2 and the Mk3 very little difference, and the Mk3 went on till 1991. You could easlily do it with an essex, but you would have to have the petrol budget to suit.
