A little cheap and cheerful improvement (in my opinion) to the boot this evening; have hated looking at the black plastic trim around the plate (which after taking off, I noticed it started life out silver and was actually painted black!) but alas, I've returned it to its former silver glory:

It's not my finest work, and the spray paint lid decided to implode half way through hence the splatters, but all in all much better me thinks!

Civic update for y'all:

She low!

I'll admit, its way too low for my liking. The speed humps on the way to work have been making sweet love with my sills, but then again I am not surprised after making zero adjustments to the out of the box coilover setup (other than setting them all to be identical)

My impulsiveness did seem to be worth it though, as I found out that my front N/S strut was completely bent:



In the next few weeks, @EightMegs has generously offered his assistance in helping me fit the rest of the suspension bits I've got, which should certainly help keep this thing feeling a bit fresher and tick off some of the worn bushings from the advisory list

Final closing statement: It makes me very happy to be driving this car everyday. It's been a very genuine and trustworthy steed for £1000 and has just surpassed 206,000 miles. See you in the next update

I'm a big fan of the ej/ek civic. Earlier this year I rebuilt the front suspension on my parent's 1999 1.4i and then spotted some major rot on the rear sills. Took ages as four repair plates were needed (lower sill, inner sill, lower inner wing and outer skin). If you haven't done so already, there is a rubber bung in the front of the rear wheel arch - get that out and get some cavity wax in before this happens:
