Are they any good? I love the front end styling but the rest looks a little bland. Are they ok to drive and do they keep going?Saw an 02 plate for sale at a dealers at £2195, IIRC. There seem to be plenty cheaper on ebay, or is it a case of buy the best? Thanks! :D

They have alot of kit as standard.Sold a '99 S.reg 2.0litre one on Saturday to a Polish guy.Bought it from BCA the week before for 480 including buyers fee,it made 800 on ebay without even cleaning it.Only drove it ten miles but it was pleasant enough.Good value for money I think. There was also a 51 plate at the same auction which made just over a grand.

I ran one as a family car for 3 years, taking it from 90,000 to 120,000 miles, it was the 2.5V6 which wasn’t particularly powerful but was really smooth. The diff bearings got noisy in the gearbox (£700 repair) and the aircon needed a recharge, and the front suspension bushes needed changing. It never left us stranded, had room inside for 3 child seats in the back and I thought the styling was good.Heated and electric seats, decent aircon, adjustable steering wheel, 6 disc CD player, 5 link rear suspension blah blah everything you need really.I was doing 65mph and hit by another car doing 60mph that crossed the central reservation, the airbags went off as it barrelled down the road, eventually ending up on its side and leaving several hundred yards of broken glass, plastic and metal. I cut my thumb a bit.Finding a good one is a challenge these days.

£2195 seems like very big money to me.They do look ok at the front as you say, and are different to run of the mill similar sized cars, but imho you'd have to be nuts to pay more for one of these than most of it's competitors.

£2195 is a bit steep as a private buy, I'd be thinking more along the lines of £1500. Does depend on how well it's been treated though and there's a massive range of trim and options.Edit: just noticed it's a dealer, not private... still steep though. I'd be wanting a warranty, full test and tax and a back seat full of ho's for that.

That's a pretty good testimonial!

I had an S-reg Galant, bought for £300 off the Bay with plenty of test but a noisy gearbox bearing (seems to be a bit of a theme with these...). Same shape as an 02-plater would be. It was a 2.0 GLS - plenty of kit, felt nicely put together and I really liked the way it drove, but it did feel a bit underpowered. If a nice 2.5 V6 manual came up at the right money I'd have it like a shot.Had a Magentis too - surprisingly good car. Interior looks Korean but is very well screwed together, equipment levels are high and the V6s go like hell - I once got the hump with a WRX who had barged his way past on a blind bend and sat right on his arse for ten miles. They handle well too (see above). But they are bloody thirsty. My old one (51 plate) is for sale again at the moment - bloke only wants about £400 with plenty of T&T and a full Kia service history, but it does have a few shallow dents in the roof hence the price.
