I know, it’s up for grabs if anyone wants it!

Hard work today, many tip runs and carpet cleaning. Going through old photos now, which is nice. Against my better judgment, here is Mrs W and me, 30 years ago:IMG_4642.jpeg.5aa2b19b7644a42bc28aaf1c33ce02cc.jpeg

Bollocks, sorry for rotation. Anyway, there’s a glimpse of Dad’s FD Victor in this one:

And my aunt’s Mazda in this, can’t seem to rotate any of them:

Mum’s Chevette, which I passed my test in:

Crikey, this carpet clean was hard. I’d done the lounge and hallway after Dad died but was asked to do the dining room this time. Had to do the hallway again too, and part of the lounge, but the dining room was a nightmare, as it hadn’t been done in years. It doesn’t look bad until you start and see the difference. Half way through:

IMG_4640.jpeg.acb0a2f2830631ad4075538755c7ada9.jpeg

I didn’t want to do it because of my arms but had to, as sisters tried and couldn’t get the hang of it. Anyway, arms are fucked again but I called it a day at this:

Good enough I reckon. I’ve painted, weeded  and cleaned and hope it sells quickly. Still more bits I want to do, so probably won’t be on the market until August.

Heading home tomorrow. Dreading the journey back, as always, so God bless you all until next time 👍

Those teeth look fierce! If you can't get that carpet cleaner then no-one can.

Fuck me, have you no filter?! There’s nothing wrong with her teeth. No overbite, nothing. It’s a nervous smile because she hadn’t met most of my family until that event.

I’ll admit I’m tired after 424 miles in one go but post a picture of your wife and let’s comment on that.

No harm meant, my apologies.

The 900 saloon was the first thing to catch my attention in that photo, but I did also say to myself “what a fine looking couple” !

The Co. Tyrone reg Mazda is wonderful. I’m guessing it was fairly new in the pic by how shiny and rust-free it looks!

Looks like new after that clean!

Fingers crossed for the sale🤞 hopefully it’ll go quick and easy - unlike ours!

Thanks, it’s a 900 convertible. It was my sister’s wedding and that was her husband’s car. He is no longer her husband me it was pretty new at the time.

Yes the Mazda was pretty new at the time. That’s my grandmother standing proudly next to her daughter’s new car. I remember it well but corrosion killed it off pretty quickly. She had an HB Viva before it that; you could see the ground through the floor. No MOT equivalent there back then I seem to remember.

I took this photo for my colleague who sold his Octavia to my sister. She still absolutely loves it and he likes to see it being used. It’s a rare occurrence for it to be with my Superb and, when the house is sold, this won’t happen again:

My boss and I visited the house on Monday evening before heading to Perth. I wanted an independent view and first impressions, because I don’t want us spending money unnecessarily before sale.

We know it needs work but his first impressions were that it looked like a nice house, well maintained, inside and out. We know any buyer will do their own thing, so we won’t do anymore to it. If driving up the drive gives a good enough impression, we’ll leave it at that I think.

Years ago Dad said he wanted to record his life story and I got home a tape recorder and microphone but couldn’t find anything when he’d gone. My sister has just messaged me to say she’s found a 45 minute tape of him telling his story, in strong voice before he was too ill dated around 2005. I can’t explain how desperate I am to hear this. I have a voice recording of him and my mum and sisters discussing the scandal of their engagement but this sounds like it could be far more exiting!

My sister recorded this tape on her phone and WhatsApp it to me. Absolutely brilliant! He tells us why he ran away from home, the jobs he did and how he ended up joining the US Airforce.

Mrs W got too upset hearing his voice, so hasn’t heard his story. Sad but also pleased she loved my parents so much.

There’s nothing in his story I wouldn’t be happy to share, so if anyone is interested, tell me how to post the WhatsApp link.

Don’t worry, this won’t work. If you really want to know, what’s app me and I’ll try and send the audio

Sorry folks for the above. I was high on hearing my dad and fuelled by beer, please ignore🙂

Bollocks! For the first time in 37 years of driving, I’ve damaged another car and the Skoda😡

Trying to park to go and vote and it was rammed, because the football training was still going on (local FA car park). Lanes between parking bays really narrow and lots of van’s & pickups. The only space available was between and Audi and VW Transporter, with Ranger pick up opposite. Took about 6 goings back and forth to get it when son said, did we rub that Audi. Surely not? Yep, I fucking did. Fuck sake.

Looks like it would polish out on wheel arch but also a mark on the bumper, which I’m not sure was me. Anyway, left a business card under the wiper with an apology and saying call me and we’ll sort it. This was 3 hours ago and haven’t heard anything yet. Really hoping it’s a company car and they don’t care!🤞Telling the boss will be fun as he’s still not talking to me. Damage to the superb should polish out:

Don’t beat yourself up over it, it happens!

Good on you for doing the right thing and leaving your details though👍 most people wouldn’t bother!

Thanks Dan, can’t help it, really annoyed with myself. I couldn’t not leave my details, my conscience would eat me and I am to blame.

I felt like that when I got caught speeding!
Really annoyed at myself for being so careless and doing it. But, I did do it and I got caught that time so it was on me 100%.

Someone in a truck or big van recently hit my sisters Fiesta in the work car park. Had to be something big because of the height of where the damage was on the rear quarter panel but it put a foot long dent and scratch into it.
Naturally they did it and buggered off without leaving details. Very selfish and unfair to do that and now she’s having to dip into savings to get it fixed at her own expense.
You leaving your details was a good thing to do and was also the best example to set for your boy too. Take responsibility and do what’s right. Yeah, it’s annoying it’s happened but it’s just one of those things.

I once reversed into a parking space and slightly over did it. Gigging at Roedean, n/s sill met smoll rocks

Sorry for your sister, I couldn’t not leave details but, to be honest, I wouldn’t have known if it weren’t for my son and would have walked away none the wiser. Should have left him at home! Anyway, what’s done is done and we’ll se what happens.

This is the damage to the Audi:

The nick on the bumper is annoying because I reckon the rest would polish out.

Anyway, the owner rang me today and was totally sound. Very grateful I’d left my details and said not many folks would have done. He was more than happy to let me order some touch up paint and machine polish the arch. Not quite the reaction I was expecting from the owner of a 4 month old Audi, as we all know what most are like! He messaged me later to thank me again! Seems a nice guy and I hope I can sort it to his satisfaction.

Evening all, those of you that read my restoration thread will know what’s happening. Basically I need to buy my, ridiculously old, company car and I would appreciate feedback on value.  Autotrader suggests a price of £3730 but I’ve been advised to find a lower offer.

I'm not trying to sell the car, I want to buy it but need to satisfy liquidators, so won’t be posting loads of photos of it. I want to pay as little as possible so will remind you of what it looks like, sort of:IMG_4641.jpeg.d500c000d04d1ebf767ac649b63aeac9.jpeg

The Superb on the left obviously. It’s a 2015, SE Business 2.0TDI DSG with FSH and 113000 on the clock. What would you pay? Autotrader suggested selling price is £3730, dealer are £6k plus.

Have you checked sold listings on ebay? Similar spec one on there went for just over £2k.

Didn’t think of that, thanks, I’ll have a look👍

Have looked, it was 5 years older than mine and pre-facelift so not a helpful comparison unfortunately.
