Spring clear out has started

So this year has got off to a bad start  We have been snowed in ran out off logs ran out off food.Been stuck on the drive, had burst water pipes, gutters fell off and dented our car, had water enter the house and ruin the carpet, some fool ran into the misses and to top it all off the farm where i store some off my motors has had a shed colapse with the weight off the snow.so i have lost three cars  and now they are a shed down so i have to move another two.To make room i have to shift this damn rover 620 so first person here with a hundred squid can dig it out and take it away  I will also be shifting some kit car project shite possibly engineless if i can be bothered to take it out for my starlet.

Gutted mate. What was fubared? I cleared the snow of the garage at the weekend as it was making strange noises but think it should have held, but was worried.*edit* just read again. Christ i hope the missus is okay

Nothing that cant be replaced but annoying never the lesstrooper 3.1 swb was a bit off a dog so no biggy cavalier td which i bought only a month ago and planned to put on the road so thats another couple off hundred down  and another lancer turbo which i bought for spares anyway so most off that will get reused hopefully  The misses was fine she just got highly worked up at the old giffer its not to bad just some slight rippleing down the driverside, the worst bit is ive done the trade in deal for the car already so now i will probably have to wait a bit longer to get the new motor as the dealer wont take it like it is  Ah such is life

/\Whs, also if any scant consolation you should see a pretty good return for said Cav TD lump as Isuzu engines are sought after.

Hopefully thats a whole years bad luck all used up at once , glad the missus is ok

Well last year we had a faze off bad luck and the year before lost 2 parents in january and another 1 in july so heres hopeing next year will be good luck all year long may even win the lottery  yeh right.Bodyshop recons the passat will cost a couple off grand to repair so its going to have to be insurance job as the garage will not take it like it is  looks like we will just have to wait again.

Hi there fellow Northumbrian,Sorry to hear about the bad start to 2010 but any post with the word "Rover" in it grabs my attention. Your 620 might be of interest as I'm after a cheap runner-can you give me a few details?I've been lurking on here for ages and have just managed to get on. Were you the one who managed to get this for a song plus a box of chocs or something? I looked for the thread but couldn't see it anywhere.I used to have a 620 diesel a while back-probably the best car I've ever owned and I've had a few, new and shite.I'm running an 825 diesel with that VM power at the minute  and this could be a decent petrol partner if it doesn't need too much doing I'm a very basic mechanic I'm afraid. One of those who can usually tell what's wrong but has to pay to have it put right :(I'm going to have to learn how to post pics up too. I've never laughed as much at some of the stuff put up on here

hello there yup this is the car the old girl was going to get 300 squid off the banger boys but i managed to talk her into saveing it from the track and got her down to £180 then as i didnt want or need the car i offered it up here and my profit margin was a tin off sweets for the bairns  then as the year got off on the wrong foot i needed the space hence the quick sale price and the willing to loose more money  ,things have taken a turn for the better now as ive found and rented another garage so there is no desperation now. The shed that collapsed has now been cleared and i have had some good luck the old dog off a trooper has saved the lancer turbo from being crushed the roofs cross beams landed on the trooper and it made a small leanto for the colt and amazingly it wasnt even bruised  the scrappy also gave me a ton for the troop and 80 squid for the old cavi so two more motors out off my hair  i shall pm you my phone no iff you like

I knew I'd remembered that off here. Good to hear that it wasn't a total loss when the shed collapsed :D Sounds like my luck NOT.No probs though-no point in taking the hit in the pocket if you don't have to. It's still good to know there are a few members up here in the frozen north to network with. Them southern softies are good fun 'n' all but seem to get overexcited when a few centimetres of snow falls  (Just joking guys)Nice scrap prices as well-you don't get that rate down this corner of the county let me tell you, with adverts around for £50 for a scrapper :x Proper tightwads.

Yeh wasnt a total loss for me but the farmers bailer, loader, tractor, a couple off trailers and a quad took a hamering but to top it off he doesnt have buildings insurance on the shed  I am still going to get shot of the rover though as i dont really need it so if you want to get a look at it your more than welcome  your right about the snow the rover is still blocked in with a 4 feet pile off snow infront and behind and we still have about 4 inches all over the estate it just doesnt want to shift  the drive is a nightmare as its sheet ice our passat only just gets up with plenty spin.Plus ive had more good news our passat will be going into the paint shop tommorow and be sorted on the blokes insurance we should get it back saterday all being well just intime to swap for our new one  so now its time for the good luck to take over

That's better news anyway. Can you give me a few details about the Rover? (tax/mot/condition etc).I'm still after a second car for the wife as her last cheap aquisition from fleabay has been consigned to scrap yard heaven after just 4 weeks  I am therefore getting earache about getting a replacement and as we have had one before she would not be adverse to yours if it doesn't need too much work.Cheers

The car is a rover 620i with the honda engine it has done 170k and still drives fine, the tax is out and the mot is up to June the 26th both front and rear bumpers are scuffed and there is small patches off rust on the rear arches,

it has had a new radiator and a top link arm on the driverside front, the handbrake has alot off travel but it does hold,

i havent realy checked it properly but you are more than welcome to come and have a looksy and see what you think,

its sat here since i collected it and hasnt even been started i might get out there over the weekend and dig it out and have a better look at the old girl and mabe take some more pics.

there are a couple off pics here and the only other pics i have are with it covered in even more snow.

Great- PM me some directions in the week and let me know what time's best for you and we'll have a look. If you get a few more pics in the meantime that will be even better  By an amazing coincidence, it's even the same colour as my old diesel although mine had a grey leather interior instead of cream. You had the choice of options when buying new.Re price, I would think you had taken leave of your senses if you let her go for less than a ton. Fair play to you that you saved it from the banger mongs. I love a bargain like the next bloke but wont try and take the Mickey. :)

will try and get some this weekend but we still have a fair bit snaw here.your more than welcome to come take the mickey but i am more stuborn than a mule and would cut my nose off to spite my face  i once put a car up for sale for £500 ono and a couple off blokes came and spent nearly an hour pokeing about and picking faults with it to try and get the price down you know the types  i dropped to £450 and they humed and hared and tried to barter me down some more but by this time id had enough and told them its 5 hunda or no sale, they then agread to pay the 4 and a half but i stood my ground and they walked off in the cream puff  in the end i ended up selling it to a nice young couple for £400 and a mountain bike  dont ask.

Yeah, I know the type-proper chancers. I've got a secret weapon though-the wife  I've never actually bought or sold a car face to face. Salesmen are an utter PITA and it's always good to get them on the back foot by turning over negotiations to the fairer sex just when it comes down to price negotiations. Might not work for everybody but does for me as she is in sales anyway and won't give em the lickings of a dog  I won't unleash her on this occasion though since you are a fellow shiter and Northumbrian and anyway neither of you will look good without a nose :lol: 20 mins west of Berwick puts you around Chirnside I guess

If it's as good as the first one which I collected today then it'll be a great deal for someone :D Drove back the 50 odd miles home without a hitch. Goes like a 70k motor rather than 170k. Best value EVAH :) Just needs a new battery as the freezing weather has done for the Unifart one that's on.If you get the other one G, post the details and photos up. I might be back-or know someone who's interested. :D By the way, the Milfield cafe is back open again :D It's win win.
