Anyone ever been in this situation?

Ok, here's the scenario; moved house, need to update the details for one of my cars, however, I can't for the life of me find the V5 to send off. In the meantime the SORN has expired on the car, but I didn't receive the reminder because it would have gone to the old address. I've picked up one of those forms for a replacement V5 but because I require details updating on it they want £25 off me for the privilege. Also because I need to re-declare SORN for this vehicle I had to pick up an additional form for that purpose. I am unsure exactly when the SORN expired, possibly the end of October time but without the reminder or the V5 I'm having to guess.

Does it tell you when the SORN expired on the DVLA website, or only that it has?

Do you have the new keeper's bit to hand? You should be able to SORN it on the net with that and also to re-apply for the complete V5. I'm not sure on changes on the log book but with the V5C you don't have to pay the £25.00 fee to apply for a V5.

The Date of Liability is the date that either the SORN or tax ran out, whichever it had at the time.

Have you sent the V5's you do have off by recorded delivery?

 

Ring up and say you sent the missing V5 off at the same time in the same emvelop but have not heard anything back but have received the others. They have to assume it was in the same envelope. They will then send a replacement free of charge and you will be able to SORN the car.

 

From having a similar problem myself a few years back you can still fill in the attached form and keep them at bay.

I send everything to the DOOVLA by recorded as most of my post seems to go missing with them.

Thanks Mr Imp, that's the form I have in my possession from the post office. So I take it I'm supposed to fill in both the V62 & the V890 & post them off together? The V890 asks me when the SORN expired....so does nobody think I'm in danger of being fined a bag of sand?? As that's what's got me worried!
