Bram, that Scania is the baby of the fleet, they have a five axle wrecker as well called The undertaker. Is lovely with all the airbrushing etc but I'd rather see a thirty year old Daf any day...

Some more from around the village.....the first five are from Tescos carpark...

Just missed this scruffy Stag...

Unlucky with the Snag, what is visible of it looks delightfully tatty. There's been a recent surge of shite activity around my neck ot' woods so I'll have to crack the camera out and find the cable for it.

Have missed loads of good ones lately....including that tatty Stag....there is a flourescent green Mondeo "cruizin" around here with all sorts of ghastly accessories glued to it including the tallest spoiler ever......I keep missing it.....here are a couple to make amends......

Marina Coupe is mint and has just had new wings fitted, the old ones were not bad, matey is fussy.....

I saw this while the missus was driving, I spotted it out of the corner of my eye and said I wanted to nip back for a pic. Now if I was driving I would have either reversed along the road if it was clear or quickly done a three point turn to go back....job done......oh no.... we had to drive through two housing estates and an industrial estate so she could turn around......

Cannon commercials used to have a detroit two stroke diesel (8v92) powered Bedford TM recovery lorry in the late 80's early 90's named 'The Detroit hooker', you could here it approaching quite some time before it came into view with its straight through exhaust stack 8) I can also recall an elderly 'normal control' Scania named something like 'Yamir' which was apparently a giant in Swedish folklore, I think, but this was about 20 years ago

Jees I remember the TM from when I was a lad.....I wonder what happened to it....I will pop into Cannon for a mooch as its only up the road from me and thier wreckers are always immaculate. They are based at Heathfield, used to be a good chod hunting ground :)

I once worked at Wessex Leyland/DAF (Wessex DAF in later years) just around the corner from where Cannon commercials are now, when I first started there Cannon commercials were in a workshop next to the roundabout on the Old Newton Road in Bovey Tracey, and I recall they ran a Minivan and MK1 Astravan as service vans at the time, I believe Cannon is still under the same ownership from all those years ago, and 2 of the fitters from those days now work at Wessex.....
Posted

Yeah I remember the Vans, crikey that takes me back.....the Old Newton road site has been re-developed since Cannon moved to Heathfield. Its now home to a self store place and a bus company, plus some other little businesses. The site now runs almost as far as Bovey, I think as well Cannon use a yard on a bit of land that has been opened up behind where the huge Potters yard scrap yard used to be.

The Z28/IROC Camaro in the last pic has been there for years, they are not for sale according to the blue rinse that runs the hair "salon" that I had to go past to take the pic. I wanted to go right in as on the left of the shot is another Camaro of earlier vintage, but they dont like visitors and miss nothing. I wonder whats in the barns as well....

It started like this....."Hey Hud wanna go car spotting.....?"

Nice to see this still parked there, it always caught my eye back in the mid-late '90s.

At the risk of being strung up and ceremoniously whipped, I really like that grey MGBGT on steels...

Never used it, so don't know. Why don't you use Photobucket; that always does a good job for me, or Flickr, if you can be arsed to post the URL (it's a bit "hidden").
Posted

Isnt that Audi one of those V8 quattro saloons? I love them, really stood out in the range back then.Havent seen a Sunny coupe for ages, but saw a lovely gold saloon today.Good spots!

I love it as well. I love MGBs on steels. If it has the massive steering wheel and red interior, er......it'd be spot on.
