Visit from the police

I know this has been discussed recently, however can only find the threads about cars on private property. Have just got home and found a card from Constable Childs who is an 'abandoned and nuisance Vehicle Co-ordinator' asking me to ring him about my VW Scirocco. It has been up the road for the last fortnight as it has broken down about 300m from my house. Not checked whether the RAC can pick it up or not as the plan is just to tow it home. The reason we have not done this is because of the snow. Not the best weather for towing. Its on a public road and is taxed and tested.I cant see what they can do, and fancy leaving it there for a while longer now.

Hopefully you'll just tell him and he'll say fair enough and not darken your doorstep again, best of luck.I quite fancy being an "Equality and Diversity" officer. Must be the best job ever, you can sit around playing darts all day knowing that whilst there is diversity, there can never have equality and vice versa.

We've an "equality and diversity" officer at work-well, we did have... until he was caught (quite literally) "embracing" multi-culturalism... i.e. caught in his office 'on the job' with a beautiful Asian girl... As case of taking your job title a tad too literally???

I've always fancied being a.... Drug and Alcohol Misuse Co-ordinator sounds fun as well.

Thats my job. Believe me - its not - its mostly angry young men being mouthy at you.

I'm sure I saw a job advertised for a Teenage Pregnancy Facilitator which comes with £40k pa and car allowance. And presumably as many 16/17/18/19 year olds as you can manager....

Ring him up and politely ask him to explain precisely which law you've broken. Then ask him how the plod have time to harass entirely legal motorists like your good self when the streets of [insert county] are crawling with real live actual criminals.

I have rung him up and left a normal message on his mobile. Decided to do that before i had a few pints as might not have gone as well afterwards. 'You ca..nt fugging tell me ware i carnt leef my fuggin' car youf friggin tosher! Pish off and cath some real crims you bummer!" Hopefully will speak to him tomorrow. Have been intending to move it but not in any rush now.

It's criminals like you HI who spoil it for the rest of us! How dare you park an old car in the street - snow, breakdown or no!! you should trade her in on the scrappage scheme and buy a Korean box instead - at least it will be SILVER and have no RIGHT ANGLES!!!you horrible polluter you!I for one approve of the way the state has for the last 10 years gone out of its way to not only tell us what to do but to think for us as well!Greater compliance for a Happier Britain3 cheers for Simon Cowell and blandness in general! Down with those nasty sweary americans who kept that lovel lad off No 1.

Spoke to the policeman who turned out to be quite amicable. He said he was just checking it had not been abandoned.I said it had just broken down but i had not had a chance to move it and he said that was fine.Bit of a waste of his time really when he could be doing something sensible like catching the people driving past my car in the 30 zone who are doing more like 60.

WTF has it to do with them anyway? Define abandoned, cos if it's just stationary for more than a day then I have a large number of taxed tested and insured vehicles in our street that are abandoned!

Glad that's sorted amicably. Now you just need to figure out which of your neighbours reported the car to the bizzies...Mark.

Maybe he'd like to purchase it? I'd love it if you phoned him up and made out as if his 'interest' is in buying it, and offer he pay 5,000 for it, Mike Brewer style.

No, really i would ;like to know what constitutes an abandoned vehicle, cos I had this too in Sheffield with the LWB crewbus, which was also TT&I, yet had some plastic copper put a note on it, to be followed up by a letter from the council saying it was to be removed and disposed of!
