Unlikely camper conversion

So, you need somewhere to sleep while you're touring, working, holidaying or whatever. But, you don't have loads of money to spend. Your options therefore are 1) look out for a cheap old camper with some life left in it, 2) find a cheap van and fit it out for sleeping, 3) do some ringing round and see if you can find cheap B&B accommodation, or 4) get a Saab 9000, whip the tailgate off and graft an amusingly top-heavy looking Rom-a-home style camper body onto it.

This Swedish registered job was spotted at Hickstead services on the A23. I love the fact that such effort has gone into making a unique vehicle when a purpose-built alternative could have been had for similar outlay. Wonder how it handles with that passion-palace stuck on the back?

If anybody has spotted a less likely conversion, post it - I could do with a chortle.

I like it, those SAAB hatchback camper conversions go back quite a way. I think the camper top is removable, so you can have a normal car when you're not on holiday.

I was fully expecting to see that Landcrab again, bloody glad i didn't..... I reckon it looks pretty ace although i would hate to spend the night in it, it looks incredibly claustrophobic.....how about these?

Now that's sensible - I'd never thought that it might boast a second life as a normal 9000. Makes more sense now! (in a weird sort of way)That Mini camper looks so cosy, though it must be titchy.

:shock::shock::shock:

^ It was part of the late Les Oakes’ collection, auctioned earlier this year. He liked his tat. From the Shimbleby Shorland auction catalogue:

At the age of 11, whilst attending Cheadle Secondary Modern he had, unbeknown to his father, amassed over 70 horse-drawn vehicles and stored them at various local farms in and around Cheadle where he worked in the evenings and at weekends to pay for the storage costs…By the time Les passed away his collection consisted of approximately 600 horse-drawn vehicles of various sizes and types including Gypsy Caravans, stationary engines and vintage vehicles and memorabilia from the past 100 years.

Not entirely unlike some of the more committed shiteists on here. Though he seemed to get distinctly less hassle from planning than the rest of us.
