pogweasel Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Apart from the Royale [with cheese], they can all get bent. And if you have ridiculous orange hair, surely you would opt for ANY OTHER COLOUR for your vehiclular transport, to avoid endless piss-taking...
55bloke Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 Wouldn't usually bother updating with 1 car, but I think this might be worth it? Spotted yesterday. It's DECADES since I saw one of these anywhere but a car show!Looked to be in original, unrestored condition, and in use as a daily driver. Brilliant!
AnthonyG Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Anorak mode ON A T reg one wouldn't have that style of 'Viva' and 'SL' badging, it could be a ringer or far more likely a replacement bootlid. Anorak mode OFF Nice car anyway, always liked the styling of the HC.
barrett Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 That Viva is a ringer for the one I spotted a while back. Good to see another one being used properly 17/10
pogweasel Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I would like a Viva like that. They do look comically under-wheeled though. Some nice Weller's or even Slutmags would sort that out.

MK5 Escort Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 It's DECADES since I saw one of these anywhere but a car show!I've seen that Viva before. A cracking spot! Barring the odd member here, it appears the HC Viva has almost become extinct on our roads. Such a shame, I always liked the rear end styling of these. Quite comfy too, even if they sound slightly 'strained' at speed. The last one I saw used as a daily, well, wasn't actually a Viva by name. It was my granddad's old K plate Firenza (as pictured here a few times over the last year or so) which he sold back to the supplying dealer in 1996 after being his only mode of four-wheeled transport for 24 years. So from a personal point of view, I can go back to the mid-late nineties myself since I last saw this 'style' on the roads as a daily driver. I can only recall precious few HC Viva's (most of them rotten) left at that time too.
Pete-M Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 That old Type 2 is lovely. I've seen loads of them on the motorways lately. Don't know why as they're probably the least enjoyable thing out there to drive at speed there is. Must have seen 40 in the last week or so, not in convoys, but just blaarting down the left hand lanes at 50 mph or so. Only seen one broken down one, which is surprising.
Lord Sterling Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Wow! I've not seen one of those HC Vivas for years, last time I saw one on the road being used a daily must have been in the early 90s. I've seen the odd one since mostly at car shows, but its a novelty to see one these days all the same.
55bloke Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 Well, here we go again with another single car update!! But, again, I think it's worth it. I was amazed to see this little stunner parked in a drive just round the corner from here yesterday. Apart from the odd wheels, it looks factory fresh! What an absolute little beauty!
55bloke Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 That lovely little Mazda is still there, so presumably someone must have treated themselves to a new motor! Anyway, here area couple more: Gorgeous Triumph spotted in the city centre last weekend. Sorry about the crappy 'phone pic, but it had to be done! Followed this glorious Alvis out of Rotherham last weekend. Looked to be in sound, looked-after, but not recently restored, condition.
55bloke Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 I've been seeing a slightly rough-looking Capri around here quite a lot recently, and finally got pics on Saturday:Also called in to Barrow Hill Roundhouse, and this was in the car park:Inside, a real treat for any one who likes their old diesel locos (as well as plenty for the steam fans):Then, this little beauty flew over - 1946 Auster!
