My days of using death sticks are over, not got the balls for it any more.

Going to buy one of those proper floor mounted compressors when I next need to work on struts.

Worth every penny. Once you’ve done one you will never consider using anything else ever again.

Just not worth fucking about with.

I received a strange letter early this year from machine mart, how strange you ask,  well I bought this deglazer to rebuilt a mk1 xr2 back in 1994.

In fairness, Machine Mart are pretty much using the same computer system, hardware and all, that they were in 1994...!

I'm fairly certain that they are keeping the remnants of the dot matrix printer industry going.

Try front springs on a CLK.

They are* fun.

At least Merc springs are impossible to compress with the horrible claw-type compressors (if they're still the same as the old ones)

The rear ones are, they need an internal compressor, but the front ones come out of the box around 18” long and need to be compressed so the coils are practically touching, down to around 8” or 9”

What's wrong he is using an axle stand with a jack, that is what you are supposed to do, isn't it ?

Just cut a couple of coils out of the springs, you'll never have to compress them again. On the plus side your car will look cool* too. ?

I have never* cut a Lada coil spring with a plasma cutter while it was still under tension and on the car either, and nobody can prove otherwise...

*except when you have to plan your route to avoid every speed bump...

There speaks an expert on cutting springs !!

We've all* done it. At least two MK1 Fiestas, a Sierra, a Cinquecento and a Renault 5 have all seen attention from my angle grinder in the past. I always made sure the coils sat in the seats properly though
