NEC Classic Car Show inc. Tagora SX

Reallyloud beat me to it with some NEC pics but here's my pick of the cars, complete with my car of the show, the Talbot Tagora SX. There's always some good stuff here but you do tend to get tired out walking around, there just seems too much to see. At least you do if you're an old git like me. And it was as packed out as ever, making it hard to get any decent pics.

Nice one at the entrance, this 180B looked like it was unused and unregistered, althought couldn't see inside to check the mileage.

Some nice unmolested and bog standard 60s Fords, got a thing about the basic Cortinas, Corsairs and Capris etc

Not sure about the wheels but looked good.

Ed China in action. This guy is a natural, was up there for ages and always had something to say. Couldn't see Mike Brewer, probably a good thing.

Now to the Tagora. What a machine. Spent a while talking to the very friendly owner - he does work in the Mercedes garage in Letchworth (Stevenage?) and also owns the white one so there's one mystery solved. Wouldn't tell me what he paid for it but he's already resprayed it and had the alloys done, the interior is untouched and mint. Seats are wonderfully comfortable! He's got two others, reckons there's only 3 V6s left on the road and 10 Togoras in roadworthy condition. I did mention the autoshite/Tagora thing but the poor fella looked a bit bemused. Shame I couldn't get any better pictures but it was a bit buried.

This 180 auto was very nice too.

I had a couple of these Mk 1 BX GTs and love the interior.

CX prototype, fascinating. There were three prototype Citroens bought over from Citroen Paris HQ, including an enlarged AMI 6 and strange beetle shaped thing. (below)

Some fab cars there, I went on Sunday too and spent most of the time on the Talbot stand ogling the Tagora and also on the Avenger OC stand.I had a really good chat to one of the guys on the Lancia stand about that povvo Delta, it really is in amazing condition and such an early one too.

That thing must be a royal pain to source parts for, there can't be many of those early ones around and the facelift in '82 was far more significant than it looked from the outside - heaps of bits were changed under the skin and there's bugger-all that's interchangeable between pre- and post-'82 models.

Some wonderful stuff there, kudos to the Tagora owner for taking such care of it. I must make an effort to get to this show next time.
