Shite car casting decisions in films

Ok, so I went on holiday and can't be bothered to read all of the posts here but has anyone mentioned the eposide of Star Trek (one of the recent-ish series) where they go to WW2 France? A black/burgandy 1980s 2CV Charleston is seen in one shot. The 2CV wasn't even launched until 1948!

also what about Del Boys Capri? It starts off as an R reg Mk 2 then as the series goes on it turns into an 'r reg' Mk 3!

Well that's not as bad as having the star car (in a thing set in 1981) that didn't arrive on our shores till years later.....

Terry McCann's Capri in Minder has been a Mk 1 and Mk2 with the same number- SLE71R I think it is.

Last taxed in 92 whichever one it was

I remember seeing a drama-documentary on the Hungerford Massacre (so mid 80's) where the Police turned up in a shiny Berlingo van

Yes. And they used a Mk4 Zephyr instead of a late 70's Toyota Crown in that one, and a later-shape Senator as a police car instead of the mid-80s version (as archive footage was interspersed with the reconstruction).

watched a film called Club le Monde, a british clubbing film set in 1993 and in one scene they had a Pug 306 - but had put it on an F plate. They could have even put it on a K plate as the car was released in 1993 anyway!very poor effort, as the car was in it for seconds - surely when the film was made (2002)) they could have found a proper f reg (or earlier) motor??

NOOOO! We were up for that, and they went cheap on us so didn't get it. Does anybody remember a drama doc about the Balcombe Street siege, where the SAS turned up in an LDV luton?:lol: It was before we were in the business but eventually I spoke to the git who 'cast' the vehicles and told him it looked like shit. He just didn't care.....

McCann's Capri "SLE" was *always* a Mk2. Someone scrapped it and the scrappy owner recognised the plate and restored it. It was then sold to one of the Capri Anorak Societies who restored it again, but it's still alive and out there. The X-Pack Mk2 Escort in the title sequence, that was the one I always wanted.

The escort was supposed to have the capper's part, it was filmed but they decided to go with the capper. If you watch the titles carefully the escort's window goes up and down as nobody noticed the change!

I agree. surely they could have had him 'lending' one of Arthurs motors for when the mk 2 wasnt available?
