I think the first one is some dodgy Ukrainian built thing. though I cant remember its nameNumber 5 is the Herald based car built in.......Iran/Pakistan or something like there.havent a clue about the rest............

1 is indeed a ZAZ Tavria, 2 looks like a Studebaker, 8 an Autobianchi Stellina and 9 a Veritas Dyna (or the other way round?), a rather nice Franco-German Panhard-engined thing. The little red coupe is on the tip of my tongue... the rest is hard, and unfortunately I should do some work first.Edit: red coupe's an OSI 1200S, and it's gorgeous!

car 2 is the Studebaker GT Hawk, the run-out model of 62-63.car 3 is a Rometsch-bodied VW beetlecar 5 is a Standard Gazel, the second series of Herald-based Indian built cars.might be able to figure out some of the others later....Re: the veritas-dyna, i'd never seen that one before.... the only Veritas road cars i'd seen were basically the same design as the racers. i know there was one lovely coupe from about 1950 but i cant remember who did the body. i'll find pics later maybe.these are the hardest ones yet carlo!

I thought 'no, that's an OSI 1200S like I said before', then googled your suggestion... one and the same!

I haven't got anything on this thread so far. some obscure chod in this one.

Stolen my thunder! At a car club meeting in Limoux, there was a SOVAM and an OSI Neckar! I never knew either existed so was dead excited, then I found they're already on Autoshite. Bother.

i wouldn't feel too bad about it, at least you own a Bond Equipe! lucky bugger....

Well, you may need to bring a shopping bag 'cos this 306 is definately jiggered! Cracked camshaft gear, and no doubt plenty of bent valves (do diesel engines have valves...?)Car 7 is not an Anadol, looks kike after a good Autoshite joint effort that and Car 10 are the only ones no-one's got, and I have to admit 10 is pretty obscure. From the USA, unsurprisingly. Impressed with the Vincent Hurricane spot, MrSteve.

It looks very much like an Otosan Anadol, though in retrospect it isn't much like one at all.Diesel engines do have valves, but I think the Peugeot XUD is relatively resistant to cambelt/timing failure... I've heard of people just wacking on a new timing belt afterwards and the engine runs fine.

7 has Polish plates, so I thought Syrena, but I can't find one that looks like that... is 10 just a Firebird/Camaro in 'prettified' form?

I thought the same thing at first, but i dont think the Syrena ever got such a comprehensive facelift.

10 is almost certainly firebird-based, front end treatment reminds me of some of the Stutz abominations but it's not one of those.

here's one from me, if anyone gets this i would be extremely surprised as it's impossible to find ANY information about this car (i've been trying for years, really...) and this is the only evidence i can find that it even existed! that said, it was a production car, not a one-off.

and here's a slightly easier one, that i'm sure will pose no problem for michiel!

Your mystery white coupe is a Neckar Jagst 770 Riviera coupe. The Neckar Jagst was a Fiat 600 built in Germany by Neckar. This coupe version had a 767cc engine, and was styled by Vignale.

Posted

Balls....you're right of course, but thats not what i thought it was....!Neckar 770s are like Escorts compared to what i was trying to find.... so if anyone has a photo of the Ramses Gamila by Vignale (i imagine it looks much the same as the Neckar) i'd love to see it thxalso, maybe someone can help me out trying to find a car i read about years ago, it was a large rear-engined british saloon from the late 50s/early 60s.... i'm sure Van Den Plas were involved in someway, which makes me think it was connected to BMC....although i can't find it listed amongst BMC prototypes...also involved were another company (BRM? ERA? something like that). It was stillborn and never got beyond prototype stage. Oh and it had a reverse-rake rear window, it sort of looked like a cross between a Westminster and a Citroen Ami 6.any ideas?

Posted

Interesting about the Ramses Gamila. All I can find out about it is that is was an Egyption version of the NSU, so possibly the Gamila coupe version was an identikit of the Jagst Riviera.

I also vaguely recall that reverse rake BMC Farina like car you mention, but can't throw up anything more about it. I didn't know it was rear engined although I sem to remember some slats on the back panel.

Think I discovered your revolting green contraption whilst surfing; an Irish Shamrock? Just to complete my last 10 cars, car 7 was indeed a Syrena, called a Syrena Laminat and car 10 was a Felber Excellence, some Swiss coachbuilder's version of a Pontiac. Sort of cheap Montiverdi, perhaps.

I could do with some help on this one. In the 1966 Observer's Book of Automobiles there is a picture of this Scorpion Sovereign, obviously Herald/Vitesse based, but I can find nothing at all about it on the net. (Doesn't help that the name is fairly common and also seems to be the name of an aircraft carrier.) I even emailed the Triumph sports club but heard nothing. I know the Observers series seemed to like including prototype cars but I would love to know if any of these were ever built or sold, would love even more to see a photo of one.

I've seen that before! god knows when and where though

seems it was a one-off prototype....there's a snippet of info here:

http://freespace.virgin.net/ivanh.smith/

maybe drop the Bond guys a line, they migth have some more info on it, or classic&sportscar mag?

chap who built it later designed the Owen Sedanca! That surely ranks as supercar-shite. Oddly a quick search on him took me back to the website i was trawling looking for the reverse-rake BMC thingy...

And yes, it was a shamrock, pure shit. not even shite. just a rubbish ugly FAIL of a car.

edit: Maybe you can help me out with another one, i've been searching for information and images of the Watling car made by the Watling caravan company in the 60s. it was a glassfibre bodied proprietry special as was popular at the time, sort of a rival to the Falcon caribbean/515.

back in the late 80s S&SC ran a story about 6 or 7 bodies being found in a field somewhere but after that...i've heard nothing. can anyone help?
