I stand corrected, sir. To a 405 driver, a C5 (I have racked up a fair amount of passenger-seat time in a Mk1 Exclusive HDi) seems ruddy huge.

With diesels, it's best to just avoid the common rail stuff - 406HDi's can be all but unfixable when they go wrong. There are still enough old pump type diseasels about for a grand that still do 45 mpg.
