Oh dear, there goes the rest of my evening.  I've started my business by buying a 1975 Allegro from auction for £400.  Things can only get better.

True fact: last Xmas when there was about four people in work I started doing a PC version of this over 2 weeks, but didn't get far, I'd love to play an updated version.

There is, download the tzx file from here

 

Get the Spectrum emulator from Google Play, I used Unreal Spectrum Portal.  When you start the Spectrum emulator on your phone, press the screen button at the bottom to open a file, point it at the tzx and you're off.

 

The screen button on the bottom is how you save it too.

 

An updated version of this would be awesome, I had a punter come and look for a Toyota Corolla but he didn't want my Honda Civic, what's the matter with him??

Have you tried hammering a smaller Spectrum Emulator over the top of it?

 

It might be down to the version of Android you're running?  When you go to Google Play I think you're only offered the stuff your phone will run.  The other version could work.

I got properly hooked on this. Hours spent offloading Fiesta 1.3Ls to someone after an XR3i. Using works MacBook that cost more than either.

 

I don't bother clocking cars, always get caught.... Lose overdraft..... End game. More profit on bigger cars too so trade up as soon as you can, easily get £1500 profit on an XJ6.

Cobblers! I'm using the ZXSpin emulator. I saved a snapshot of my game, but when I try to load it (using 'Load Snapshot') the emulator tells me it can't find the file 'New Wheels John.tzx'. What am I doing wrong here then? I've plastered a few copies of the file around in case it's looking in some default location but no joy.

Try opening a new game then click file - open - saved game

So it seems to load the file as it displays my trader's name - but there's a message to insert a tape and start recording - can't seem to do much after that. Oh well - I'll have to start again (managed to sell the Audi 100 at £1400 profit last night too )

On my phone it says save state. I click that then I can load saves off my memory card and even play other games. I know I will lose days if I start going through the game library!

On my Galaxy S2 I press the bottom left bottom and it brings up a menu which allows you to save at any time, I found this late last night after selling a Audi 100 for £1100 profit too!

Oh, you really shouldn't have told me about the Android emulator. I hadn't even thought of that. But now I'm sat with the family, swearing at a guy who's rocked up to my dealer full of three grand Ford shite (special offer on a Capri 2.8i, folks) looking for a Silver Shadow. Jog on!

I've only just managed to move on an Audi Coupe that 20 other punters didn't like the interior.  Thank goodness for colourblind customers, otherwise my next step would have been "strip out the interior and send it around the oval"

 

If someone has the skills to create a new version, I think the best features are the excitement of the auction and the great feeling you get from moving a car on after it's been sat on the yard for ages.  Having said that, it looks like I'll be leaving the Escort Ghia to my kids when I die

I think the Alfetta will go with me to the grave, I've tried foisting it on every punter who's walked through the door, one test drive but no sale.  Same with the brown Allegro.  Oddly, the knackered Daimler I took as a trade-in flew out the door to a chap who was looking for an Audi 100.  Lucky fella!

Trick of the trade is when a punter takes a test drive and decides they don't like it don't give up, keep offering them the shitheap and more often than not they end up buying it to shut you up.

^^ Noticed that too - I thought, 'No - surely if I show them the same car again they'll just laugh at me?' - but no, they seem to have the memory of a goldfish. Show them 'Car A' - no dice, show them 'Car B' - ditto, show them 'Car A' again and they snap it up!

Another one to try is Minder http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0003210 It's much the same idea except that every time you buy anything Chisholm appears shortly afterwards and you have to offload the stuff before he finds out you've got it. If you swear at anybody, other than Terry, you get a punch in the face.

What's wrong with people on this game? I have a Sierra 2.0GL in stock, 1 year old, 3k miles on the clock at a bargain price (I got it at £300 under trade with only £130 prep cost).

 

So this daft bint comes into Clappers and wants a Sierra 2.0GL, easy sale thinks I:

on first showing, she doesn't like the colour

on second showing she doesn't like the interior (FFS love it's a fecking GL)

on third showing she hates the test drive

on fourth showing she likes it! then the cow wants money off as she's not PXing anything

 

I told the bitch where to go.
