binhoker668 Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Just had a lovely drive back from Crewe in my spanky new and minty fresh 323!Perfect conditions too - lovely calm dark night, and windy A-roads through all the wee townships and villages on the A52.Many thanks Mr Geezer - very very chuffed. Will be taking Maxx, Small Boy and Roobarb dog out for cheerful country drive/walk tomorrow. Even have authentic red tartan rug fer the parcel shelf !I'm thinking flames up the sides and tippexed wording on tyres. Anyone else have any mod ideas?

binhoker668 Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 This craptop ain't up for uploading right now I'm afraid but pics will of course follow.I now need to know of all things 323 and parts related....Spesh windscreens!
Spottedlaurel Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Ex-Bollox too, it's becoming another AS school bike.Should do the job well for you.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Great car this one, one owner from new till I got it I think. Looks like RG has been a great custodian of it too! Keep up the good work Bintronic!
Station Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Is that the Hiroshima-esque '5 o'clock shadow' of an RAC badge on the grille? That does look new!
MrDuke Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Cop-spec satin black wheels with trim rings ftw. Also some totally unnecessary MotorWorld adhesive chrome strips.
binhoker668 Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 Cheers Mr B! Not gonna lie - am still learning as I go with all things mechanical, but 'tis people like yerselves that aid such things - you and Mr Geezer know the car, so will be in touch when i need it! Put it like this, Mr Geezer said it was due an oil change - it'll be my first! But yeah - I want to sort it all myself where possible. My last car was that Punto, and it didn't inspire me to do owt but drive it for getting there's sake. This is a different case in point!Mr Volks is also on my first call for help list.Fair play - I AM a bit drunk right now - nae babysitters (bastards) and Mrs Hoker is out on the tiles, but hey - fuck it. I love this site.Smiles on face, and mad useful info on a daily basis...Just sayin like.....

Dollywobbler has a pic up - big mohican in action on bonnet of deux chevaulx, my good shabby self of course too, Fotorabia is self-admitted music abuser and hanger out of east german punk squats, Torsten has let his tastes slip on many occasions. Do I see some form of seedy underbelly happening here?Ace
garycox Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 More of a warning, that, isn't it?Look how silly it could look!!
garycox Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Sorry, I was in a bad mood this morning! Still am a bit actually, feeling shitty.*hugs*x
binhoker668 Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 Some inspiration for you Chris.... I'm not gonna lie to you - I *do* think that could look ok. Never gonna happen tho - better things to spend money on, and hey - could the steering get any heavier?!! PS - ^^^Did someone just send a HUG to someone else? I thought we were gruff men talking about RUST and OIL and ummm... METROs! Right that's it. I'm outta here...
garycox Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 It's OK, it's just cos I'm ill, I'll be back to sending people virtual kicks in the balls soon!
retrogeezer Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I'm not gonna lie to you - I *do* think that could look ok. Never gonna happen tho - better things to spend money on, and hey - could the steering get any heavier?!!Thats just photoshopped with some wheels I had here ages ago off my Audi 80. I thought the steering was o.k other than at parking speed and my Mrs never complained! She did comment today about the PAS on the mondeo though...trouble is, the bluey doesn't have PAS either...
binhoker668 Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 WHOOOOOAAA lads, Whoa! The steering is fine and dandy, no problem at all to a big tough roistering red blooded man like myself, just thought big alloy wheels generally made things more difficult?Hey Volksy, yer ma's a wimp....etc
binhoker668 Posted October 7, 2009 Author Posted October 7, 2009 So hey - had rear passengers (ahem) today for the first time - well, other than Smallboy (aged 5), and noticed that the back end was well low. Thing is that the only people in the back were Ms Hoker's Auntie - who is very petite, and Smallboy. On the way home with this arrangement we were kinda nearly grounding out coming off the speed bumps. Defo not enough weight to cause this. The ride height is fine and dandy otherwise - ie with just me, Ms Hoker and Isaac in it. Do springs just get 'tired'? Or would it be the shocks being dead or dozed? Maybe it's not as bad as I thought, and will check it out tomoz with adults in the back - but yeah - reckon summats amiss - wanna sort it immediately! Volksy, if u have ideas on this, is it summat you could coach me thru fixing? Cos I know you love giving up yer free time to help crap Irishmen with ancient tin!!Thoughts etc?
retrogeezer Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 dude, it ain't grounding out - it's the mudflaps scraping the road - thats all. And I've had 4 adults in the car and my 6 yr old with no issues at all (other than it being quite a bit slower!!)
binhoker668 Posted October 7, 2009 Author Posted October 7, 2009 Nice one Geezer - I totally never thought of that! As Ms Hoker would (fairly regularly) say - I was bein' a panic pants. Just heard the scraping noise and my heart sank.Mad.So paranoid of owt goin' wrong with this! Spose it's about time I shut up about it all actually..Soz!
retrogeezer Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I remember when I first heard it backing off my drive.....it did have some even lower ones on the front that would scrape if there was a stone in the road.It does sound a lot worse but thats all it is, just a bit of rubber scraping the floor.Seriously Chris, there is no way I would have driven my daughter around in the car if there was ANYTHING wrong with it and if Mr B had not have been selling the Bluey, the 323 would still be sat on my drive.
binhoker668 Posted October 7, 2009 Author Posted October 7, 2009 Hey mate - I wasnae inferring anything! For real! Just heard a noise and got para. New car - new noises!
retrogeezer Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 yeh, I know that. Does take a while to get used to a new (old) car and their little ways.
