Why you shouldn't ebay when pissed, my ride for the winter:

Thinking I might have to change my user name to 'Pimp Daddy'...

Hoping it's not a dog, cos it's 40 odd miles away and it's gonna be dark. I am such a muppet.

One of the last, too. GR8 for Fat-Slag wedding hire.....Get a card up in your local VG store window.

Very nearly ended up with a 4.0 Jag Sovereign as well. Luckily was outbid by £20 at the last minute. I am now banned from ebay until sober.

The colour scheme looks a bit chintzy for me, but good work! How much?

Merc 300SE auto. 1991.£550. 108,000 miles, 9mths t&t.Was v cheap to insure though, plus living in Leicester think it would quite easy to sell on locally, especially if I get some luvly leopard print seat covers.

Central locking not working, which I knew about, poss a vacuum pump.

Revs up and down a bit when idling, poss air leak. Half a dozen poor rust repairs and some chrome damage, neither of which will get any attention while I own it.

Could have been a lot worse!

The alloys are a bit naff (style and condition) so I need to research what it would have had on when it left the factory. If anyone has any pics?...

Check the nearside inner wing behind the headlamp if it has cruise. Might be a split hose thereabouts.

just think how dull things would be without beer & eghey. I very nearly bid on a green mk1 Cavvy Sportshatch ("Kermit") but I wasn't quite that drunk.

I've bought some utterly dreadful shit-boxes off ebay when inebriated.

That's how I came to own my (now moved on) Pug 106. I'm trying to stay off the ale at the moment because there are a couple of Allegros on Flea-bay which I'm fighting the urge to bid for...

You cant even get a neg nowadays for drinking and bidding so theres not really any incentive not to do it.Merc looks horrible BTW! excellent work that man.

I trust it's trimmed in blue velour with a wear patch on drivers bolster?

Spot on sir. With a slightly fusty aroma too. I always lift a cheek when breaking wind in the car, other types just bury them deep in the foam.Service history shows 90 miles between 1997 and 2009!!!!Having it looked at by the local Merc specialist in a couple of weeks, nice chap offered to give it a free once over on the ramps.

I would say a 300SE in white from the factory, with cloth, would have almost definitely had steel wheels and the big, simple plastic trims with the three-pointed star in the middle (like the 190's and base W124s) from new. Or perhaps 15-hole flat-faced alloys. But more likely steels. Nice buy for the money - J-plate is pretty late for a W126, although I have (from memory) seen one on a K-prefix before.

Therein lies a tough choice. Either go for the 'we've had this from new' look with a set of cheap Ebay steels'n'trimz......or go the full King of the Council Estate Nine Yards - £99 Norn Iron MBZ plate, chromium wheelarch trims plus a big three pointed star grafted into the grille for the full chip shop prestige look. What's it to be Sir?

I do like the 'upsized taxi' look of the base spec versions.

Ye gods, that body kit is in unbelievably, shockingly bad taste.I'm thinking return to the original steels and trims, and offset the cost doing the unlicensed taxi run on Friday night. Will have to sort the brakes first though, because the 'new rear pads' it came with have started binding on this evening. Grrr...Have also topped up the auto oil so it now changes gear, obviously an oversight seeing as it's 'just serviced'. Double Grrrrr....

I hope not, because that would be 1,000,090 miles! (6 barrels on the odometer). It's either been standing, or the speedo's not been connected for over a decade. Anyway, I'm off to try to free the back brakes...

Good advice sir, had a poke today and bob's your uncle there's a bodged repair in that very location! Award yourself a mug of strong tea and some chocolate hobnobs. Many thanks.
