Just thinking at the weekend that I haven't seen a Sierra for ages. What do kit car people use these days? I know Zetec engines are popular but what about the box, running gear etc?Is the 1990s BMW 3 series used now? - that must be the most common cheap RWD about I guess. This is all theoritical BTW - I haven't just been offered a Locost 'project' for £52 or something  !

MX-5 and BMW 3 series are the RWD donors popular amongst today's kit manufacturers, engine wise Lexus V8's are starting to find their way into a few Cobra replicas and I believe the Honda S2000 screamer is being considered somewhere too.As an Escort based kit owner and enthusiast it pains me to admit that all my kits are now worth more as parts donors for the original Escorts .........

MX-5s will be a rare breed in the future, mark my words.Engines for kits, and their own race series in the US now, not too sure if theres one in the UK?But anyway, our college saved a ecotec engine from a vectra for a kitcar, and yes im aware its not RWD.The locust kitcar or college has is ancient, 1300 kent engine and capri laser wheels, such a partsbin car!
