It looks pretty nice, I'd go for it.The GT is a 1.6, I believe it's an XU with a carburettor - similar engine to the 205 GTi.

Spot on Milford! According to my info, it's a XU5S (171B) pushing 90 horse. Timing belt replacement intervals for that engine are stated for every model EXCEPT the 305"Manufacturer has no recommended interval" Helpful, eh?FWIW, an elderly friend of our family has a 1986 1.6 GLX one of these. He's had it from new and it's been a good child. Mind you, he has a Lister XJ-S as well, which he drives like a loony. This old gent was a POW, and when the Hun ran out of grub (the Russians were coming), him and his mates ate the guard dogs. Fucking nails!1580cc, 9.5 CR and suitable pour la sans plombe.Solex 32/34 CISAC, Bosch coil and Ducellier dizzy.Boxhead starter and Ducellier alternator.HTH

still something getting at me about the switchgear and heaters controls :? 90 poneys eh not to bad for 1.6 considering Mk2 1.8 Carb Golfs are 90bhp too for an extra 200cc

Bloody hell! 1.6 million built! I gotta say I always liked those when I was a kid. My mates mum had one, and I liked the angry face and the marshmallow seats.Anyway, bollocks to that, get another Rover

I wouldn't set much store by that - les fromage-meangeant signes de la redittion are always buggering about with suppliers. I once worked on a giffer-spec Samba which had a Girling caliper on one side and a Teves on the other. Old boy was horrified, having bought the car new.

250 "Es" with a Technique is pretty much a bargain for anything I'd say :)I've been lusting after older 304 wagons recently on there :)

When I worked in the car trade the local French car dealers told us that all French manufacturers kept a stock of parts from different suppliers, as the strikes in the industry were so bad! This was the early 1980's, so things might have changed.

Lovely comfortable cars, with a fabulous ride. Those GT seats should be tweed and as sumptuous as you can get, hard wearing too. GT was a 1580cc petrol (BX/205 GTi) though no particular ball of fire, the GTX 1905cc was the best one with even better velour trim and 205 GTi binnacle.Heater controls were q bit funky, vacuum operated and not particularly reliable, working replacement units may be hard to find. I would imagine even in France 305s are getting a bit scarce.

I'm not sure about the rest of the equipment, but that electric window switch bottom-left (mounted sideways) is DEFFO an Austin-Rover affair from the early 90s. My fake-uncle had a F-plate Maestro with exactly the same switches. First electric-windowed car I ever rode in.

What's a 'fake-uncle'?Better christmas presents but more inappropriate 'touching'?:shock::shock:

One of those people that are around as much as family, but aren't actually family.I don't recall any touching, but that may be higher quality date-rape drugs than we have access to today.edit: Just realised what an autoshite-paedophile line that would be... "Hey there, want a ride in my Maestro? I'll let you touch the window switches..."
