Hi everyone,

I thought I should introduce myself and my cars!

I have been looking on here for some time but thought I should join up, there seems to be alot of like minded people on here!!

Heres a few pics of my small fleet.

They are only done on my phone so apologies for them being a bit crappy!

First is my 1974 Mk2 capri, its an early one on an M plate, in proper shite 1.6 L trim. It was my first car and ill never part with it. It was fully restored quite a few years ago now and has been a superb car! Will need some tidying soon though.

Also in that pic is my daily runner, a 1987 Volvo 740 GLE. These things are superb, its done 177K from new and still feels as good as new. Its a very capable car, nice and comfy too.

Next up is my latest project car, 1985 C plate mk2 Granny 2.8 ghia X. I saw this on the side of the road for sale and had to have it! It turned out it was owned by a local banger racer and would have been his next car for the track so it had a very lucky escape!

Its a beast though, for a 2.8 carb it goes very well and is lovely to drive.

If anyones interested theres a few pics of it being slowly restored on Practical Classics web site: http://www.practicalclassics.co.uk/foru ... php?t=7200

Finally, my 1999 Transit 190, Very good condition compared to most these days, and only done 80K. I dont even need this but I had a nice 120 a few years back and regreted selling it so rewarded myself with this to make up for it! I really like the old type transits, theyre a bit basic and truck like, especially compared to the new ones, but I like em.

Comes in handy sometimes.

Some of my past cars, No pics at the moment though include:

1979 Volvo 244 DL, bought to use through winter and loved it so much I kept it. Had to sell it on though to make space for the Granada. Torsten now owns it!

1991 Volvo 340 1.7GL, owned by an old guy from new and it was mint! only had 50K on it when I got it. Very nice car.

1985 B reg mk2 fiesta 1.3 ghia, used as a run around, it was a nice little car but was very rusty. Clutch went on it in the end and it wasnt really worth fixing with all the rot so got weighed in.

There are more but not as memorable!

Hello & welcome!The so-called 'Management'

Thanks guys!RedSparrow, It will be staying 'brown', its actually roman bronze, but you cant tell in dull weather. When its in the sun you can really see the difference. Also in the pic the seats have old towels on them to stop the sun from damaging the vinyl. They are also brown, and in pretty good nik, really comfy too.Fred, I think these were the last of the proper transits, before they became just like modern cars, full of wiring and other rubbish! I have a mk6 as a company van, its ok to drive but not as nice or reliable as these old ones. I really like the old 2.5DI engine though, Ive never had any trouble with them.

Welcome! You have a good fleet there, particularly the MK2 Capri, which is the forgotten one IMO. Is it in 'Roman Bronze' - metallic brown by any other name?

Welcome to Autoshite.Nobody seems to agree with me but IMO the Mk2 Capri is the proper one. The Capri belongs in the 1970s but the Mk1 hasn't quite shaken off the 60s and the Mk3 is too 80s. The brownness of your one adds 1970s points.

Nice work buying a Transit without really needing one, that's Autoshite thinking alright!

Been through a couple of hands since torsten.

It was/is a lovely car, - I've driven it.

You may remember it more like this...

Yes thats the one!OMG that looks unbeleivable now, cant beleive its the same car! It looks stunning!I really loved that car, and was sad to have to let it go. You have no idea how pleased I am to know its in good hands and being looked after.Strangely when I had it I considered spraying it either black or a dark blue to go with the blue interior, but I never thought it would look that good. When I had it, it looked a bit crusty but it drove beutifully, ultra low mileage prehaps. It was suprisingly quick too, I regularly used it to embarrass owners of much newer cars! Its very solid underneath though.I only sold it on to make room for my Granada, if it wasnt for that id still have it now. When I put it on e bay (desperation to sell it) it sold twice, both times to banger racers but fortunatly neither of them turned up to collect it. So torsten offered to give it a good home.I got it off e bay and only got it to use during the salty winter months, to save my capri rusting away. I liked it so much I kept it.Before me I think it was owned by an elderly guy in cornwall, who obviously didnt use it much. He died I think and it got left sat on his drive. Is it yours now? And please, please can you post some more pics and tell me whats been done to it!? id really love to know! Thanks for posting that.Ps, has that awful, huge towbar been taken off now?! I walked into that thing a few times, cutting my shins!

It came up as an advisory on the MOT, the tester simply wrote in block capitals... TOWBAR. I reckon he bashed his shin on it too!I'll dig out some more pics / link to the mods if you wish.

Thanks alot for that, I often wondered what happened to it.Im glad he stuck with the original B21a engine, that engine was in quite a bad way when I first got the car, I spent quite a bit of time sorting it and it did go very well for a 2.1.I also spent a small fortune totally overhauling the braking system, I decided in the end to use all new parts, calipers all round, new master cylinder etc etc.I just never got around to doing the bodywork before I started the Granada. It would be nice to see it again. Glad its gone to a good home.

Towbars are now part of the test, on case you were wondering.
