When I had a 206 I changed the axle for a second hand one, 20,000 miles later the bearings started to fail on one side on the second hand axle, I was able to change these as well. Changing the axle isn't too bad a job as it's only held on by four bolts. If you catch it early you can get away with just changing the bearings, if you leave it too long they destroy the axle meaning replacement is the only option. 

 

This is the axle with the radius arm removed

You will need the hammer shown on the left to get the radius arm off the torsion bar

I have a nice word doc detailing the process I used as a guide when I did it, I'm not sure how to host it here but I can email it to anyone who's interested
