Whoops. I wanted to put this text below the quote about the Colt saloon. No the UK had 3 & 5 door Colts.

That is the Australian built Colt that was made right up to the late 1980s. In Australia it was good value helped by being locally made so no tariff added. I guess it must have been bargain priced for New Zealanders as they could have bought a newer Japanese built Colt instead as I believe both cars were sold at the same time.

Successfully procrastinating today:

 

I'm developing a fetish itch for streetwise diesels. I reckon a non-monged streetwise will become a bit a cult icon in 20-30 years; MGR at it's most misguided/ahead of the curve. The L-series is mega frugal too. This one looks good, if project drivified:

This Metro however has no rot whatsoever and is completely original with no welding. For most of it's life it has been fastidiously cared for and maintained, and it shows

 

 

 

For anyone wanting to race metros or who want to fit the more powerful engine units available, this would be an excellent donor shell, though it would be a shame to spoil it's originality. Or just use as is, or just lay it up in a museum

I much prefer gumtree for bargain/ interesting motors these days. The chancer/winner ratio is worse, but if you wade through it there's some right pearls.
