You can imagine back in 1989 some chap collecting the keys to his new company car and being delighted to get the 'all-new, car of the future Cavalier' then realising he's got a poverty spec one in hearing aid beige.

There are a few differences - if they are still there and not replaced with standard panels due to them rotting out.

 

Firstly there is a small bulge in the rear panel for the 185/60/13 spare wheel. There should also be some extra strengthening plates and slightly thicker chassis rails and a slightly different front panel to accommodate the round headlamps and surrounds. This panel imparticular always rots due to no inner arch splash guards so mud gets stuck behind the headlamp, but normal Fiesta panels are easily modified to fit the round lights and look outwardly identical. Only other minor differences are the holes around the arches to fit the body kit and a gearbox mount on the passenger side inner wing.
