Matt, the stock 1.3 Sirions put out 101bhp, Daihatsu make cracking little engines ;)

Just looked it up and you're right, Parkers says the Rally2 and Rally4 spec cars have 107bhp, top speed is the same as the regular trim specs though (112mph). Not bad for an 850kg car, would still be better in a 720kg Cuore though  :-D

The later Sirion rally's apparently had upto 127bhp from that engine. They were tuned by camspeed who seemed to tweak them individually.

I think I've seen one or two of those for sale, I wonder if they did any YRV Turbos, they had 127bhp from the factory (but I seem to recall that people say the gearboxes are crap?).

These are actually a semi-auto. You still change gear manually but there's no clutch to operate. I think they have a combo of an electromagnetic clutch and a torque converter. I used to have one and they are surprisingly nice to drive (apart from the horrendously uncomfortable seats!).

DRS and Harry Hockley made the best tuning bits for Daihatsu engines. Hirst's Mira Classic has some tuning parts fitted, it's properly daft.

DRS (Daihatsu Racing Services) make all the best bits for Daihatsu, like the 713cc engine in an X4.

I've not seen Hirst's Mira classic, I did own his old one for a while and built a new turbo for it.
