Custom Reg Plate in different Color?

Recommended Posts

So turns out Newcastle Motor Show wants my Lincoln to be displayed next weekend! I want to order a set of custom show plates for it, but it seems to be a real pita to find a service that can actually supply a set of plates that's not the typical white and yellow (or the pre-'74 black one). Does anyone know of a way to order plates that have your own "reg number" on it, but on a black/dark grey background? Or maybe another idea how I could get something like in the images shown below (sry for the shitty photoshop)?

Have you got a spare duff set of plates?  Use those as blanks and get some vinyl made to fit.  Shouldn't cost a huge amount.  Doesn't really matter what the duff plates look like as long as they're clean.  You can then trim the vinyl to fit the plate fairly easily with a craft knife.

There used to be a great sticker and numberplate shop on Westgate Road in Newcastle.  Obviously it was mostly about bikes but they might be able to help.

One's without the 'u' look wrong under proper English light.

I keep contemplating whether I should write tyre with an Y and colour with an additional U to ease people's minds, but always come to the conclusion that it's just wrong to do so :-P *puts flame suit on*

it is wrong to put people's mind at rest, there is no fun in that!

Okay, looks like the plate/sticker place at Westgate Road would be able to create the plates, I've send them an email so I'll wait and see. Thanks for the help guys!
