Handling a Rover 25

A couple of weeks ago our uncle came out of the Norwich football ground after probably another disappointing match to find he could not unlock his rover from fob or door lock and had to suffer the indignity of a crawl through the boot with the alarm going off!!.

Got the door open and reset the alarm before driving home to the south east. Told us all about it and we discussed how old the car was etc, but he failed to tell me he now could not open the car with door handle till last last week!!. So cue me quickly ordering blindly a door handle and hoping this is the problem as the door locks work and the mot is due in a few weeks.....

Well it looks like someone forced the lock? 09107d64b1d29efd373eaba9d0ad088e.jpg523715b9a29ec819c74ce02ba662e381.jpg

Blimey, a door opening fault that isn't related to shonky electronics in a Rover 25.

Well-"handled", sir.

Good work, i had to change both front door actuators on my 75. It was a joy*

We got lucky with the lock being well supported by anti-theft plates and stopping it falling apart before removal. And the dust flap on the lock being dislodged and pushed into the lock barrel was the reason the key wouldn't go in. A surprisingly easy reassembly of the dust flap and chrome cap back onto the barrel and the lock was back working.

Now he just needs to mot it......

On my old 25 the key never worked in the drivers door, fortunately it only got a flat battery when I'd left the boot ajar after HGF so I could get back in if it had a flat battery... (all thanks to the book light...)
