If you have the reg, check the LPG register online.

Can make it a bit easier re Insurance as some companies are a but but funny re LPG.

I'll try and find the link.

Found it....

Autocars tag for the review was 'unlikely eco warrior'. The lpg button is on the trim surrounding the gearlever. Fan fails on 1st 3 speeds which is ballast resistor. Pektron clocks are rubbish and segments usually missing or gone. Hatch struts depressurize.

Factory fitted bi fuel apparently

Bloody hell, didn't even realise they had done one.

Will be a rare beast.

Factory fit may or may not be on the register! If it isn't they will add it FOC on sight of the factory paperwork.

LPGA certification only means the installer paid their subs that year it means absolutely jack shit.

10 year retest on LPG tanks has gone by the way side, it's just a visual check now.

It should start on petrol then switch almost seemlessly to gas.

Both the reg. number and log book number are visible in the advert's photos, so various other useful details about the car can be obtained beforehand. One of the advert photos shows a handbook for IGSystem LPG system, with the reg. no of the Rover 45 written on it.

Some interesting info. on the 'factory' (approved) LPG conversions in these forum threads:

Looks a very nice car (great colour, leather and wood trim) though the MOT history indicates it has had a bit of a neglect from time to time e.g. worn out tyres, poor headlight aim, split gaitors, rusty brake pipes - nothing sounds too bad though.

Oh and the cheapest local gas is peas pottage motorway services 61.9p there's other places quite a bit cheaper but not as close.

Have you bought it yet?

I wish it was a 400 with different bits , preferably like my old one , a 420gsi with a hatch and sandstone yellow leather interior on a R plate . In a moment of madness , probably brought on by the leaking exhaust I sold it .... to a banger boy . I could claim I didn't know at the time but I vaguely recognised him as the scrapyard owner from 65 miles away and 30 years ago !!!

Yay 45s.

Had about four. Theyre quite solid and i like the smaller diameter steering wheels, feels good.

Weak spots.. they have a few. Rear light seals can leak into the boot. I presume its a kseries 1.4/1.6 so you've got the usual coolant issues that can cause HGF, and they will.. ive done one in the last few months.

Thermostat is in a god awful place down the back of the head and in all honesty with the inlet and head removed its still a shit to swap. This usually leads to them cutting about with the coolant on 1/4 and poor mpg.

CTS can also lead to overfuelling - but there are two. one for the gauge and one for the ECU. Theyre colour coded on the coolant block to the right of the head so easy to locate. They can be tested with an ohmeter but theyre about £6 new.

Ive replaced about six heater resistor packs too. In fact I used to sell packs of maplin resistors for them on ebay and make a tidy profit.

Aside from that theyre nice and reliable and can be comfy. very quiet, and quite nippy.

the funniest thing i had with a 45 was one last year - paid £100 for it and did the headgasket. Me and a friend went up Glencoe in it in the snow and couldnt work out why it never warmed up of demisted. Fans on full, no airlocks, nothing. turns out somehow the interior fan was running in reverse and sucking warm air out - and blowing it out of the vents in the bonnet. Swapped the wires round and boom. Sold it for £500 with a test and full leather.
