Pretty fucked off at this tbh. Glad we fell for the sob story and helped you buy a nicer car.

Did they allow people to buy Renaults in Bournemouth back then?

Phil

Yes, but there was a lot of head shaking and tutting.

As I said elsewhere, please don't make unpleasant accusations. This is not true in any way.

I remembered Renault 20/30 as being huge, executive motor cars, and there it is little bigger than the R16. Saw the 16 at Cannock a couple of weeks ago, could have shoved it in the boot of the Vel Satis.

The 20/30 were designed as replacements for the 16, but the 16 lived on for half their production life.

Make no mistake, the 20 is substantially larger than the 16 in every direction.

I have no idea why they appear to be so similarly sized in the pic,

but this is a pretty distorted reflection of reality.

However, everyone who hitherto entered the R16 was surprised by what a Tardis it is,

which is something that won't occur in an equidistantly wheelbased R20,

because it's merely as roomy inside as its massive exterior suggests.

My dad had one of these. We rolled up at an auction and he did the impulse buy on one (same colour) for quite a few quid. We got the keys and ran to the car park only to find it was left hand bloody drive. (The twats had 2 blokes in the front on the drive through). He had it a few years mind, his first motah with PAS and leccy windows. quite a lux barge at the time.

Junkfather had a 20TS simply on the grounds that they didn't make the R16 anymore.

Although he found the 20 quite agreeable as a car as such and often praised its value for moneyness, he dearly missed the R16's feyness.

I think he was quite happy to find himself being an empty nester at his next car buying round and went for the raving bonkers Fuego.
